For F2P
Hello. You have just awakened your first two UR3, or your first UR5 to finish the first Aeon Rally event and grabbed that Sphinx skin, and now you’re wondering what the f*ck to do next with your team. I got you covered.
Let’s set a few ground rules:
Bidding for aeon is now advised against, the gem budget for that should be funneled into goddesses, per the 2nd Aeon Rally. So we’ll be working on the assumption that it takes a while to get something from UR3 to UR5, in time with compass progression anyway (I won’t go into goddess stuff though).
We’ll also be considering your 2nd UR3 is Perseus, because it’s easier to do and probably more practical for F2P to do for the first Aeon Rally.
Midgame is a time where you have to pursue short term improvements while also setting up your long-term plans, your progression is very much in the hands of RNG, especially with the Artifact stuff. Being flexible and knowing which direction to pivot to when things didn’t go initially as planned is a crucial part of it.
Meta: It’s gonna be Hyper Offense all over the place, just like the early game. Any hope in making a defensive team in this stage of the game is generally futile as the best defensive Aeons do not yet have access to the tools that make them great (and they need to be UR5, and see ground first rule).
Damage is king! Your first choice of artifact should be whatever enables you to do more damage, or take advantage of the burst damage you’re able to produce. Artifacts on defensive Aeons are good, but you need to do damage to win.
Offee is the best mid-game aeon in the f2p pool. But only when she is UR5, with her exclusive artifact, with the two dependent slots filled with a lvl 50 red artifact and a lvl 30 red artifact to trigger the 3rd passive. So any mention of her in the rest of the text will be referring to her in this state.
Anyhow, let’s start with best case scenarios:
If you UR3 Dove
- UR5 Dove, and aim for her exclusive artifact. Very simple (Rebirth Perseus if that helps you get Dove to UR5 earlier).
- After UR5 Dove, you can expect to start awakening her partners in the following order: Janna, Rin, Liba. After you get a general spread of UR1, you should be working on Artemis.
- After you get Dove’s artifact, your next best option will be either: Asclepius or Offee. Offee will provide all the damage you need to do whatever the fuck you want after you got both of them up and running. Asclepius will provide all the healing you need.
- Let’s talk about Astral Battlegrounds, try to invest in these elves: Kallisti, Lapis if they become current in Astral battlegrounds. The MP they provide goes a long way for Dove, especially if you get your hands on Achernar who can potentially grant Dove 1000 MP before the match starts.
Other considerations: If you get any non-Dove artifacts that are not Offee’s or Asclepius’, bite the bullet. Those Aeons do not perform that well on a Dove’s team, there’s no need to invest in them. Simply put the artifact on Dove for stats and try again.
If you UR3 Uruanna
First of all, congratulations! You landed yourself on what essentially is the most flexible position to be in for midgame. So you have a very wide array of options to move forwards with.
That said, you’re gonna UR5 Uruanna next, regardless of what you have. So do that first.
Uru – chaos ( Uruanna – moana – perseus for the front, and chaos units):
- After you UR5 Uruanna, you basically have all the damage you need for midgame, and Perseus should provide sufficient wall-breaking to cover for Uru. This is where you’ll start awakening the rest of the team so they can hold artifacts and gain more survivability.
- Following this, you’ll want to either:
- Invest in Artemis to further amplify Uru and Perseus. Invest in Moana and her exclusive artifact to get the defensive core up and running.
- Invest in Artemis and Offee (in the background) and work towards Offee’s artifact to push the team deeper into hyper offense. Moana can wait.
- Invest in Demeter, Ur3 Demeter is an amazing aeon in her own right and she synergizes with uru – moana, complement uru’s damage. Though, she might not be necessary since UR5 Uruanna is very powerful already. Still a fine option.
- Invest in Perseus and Moana, then invest in asclepius. Get all their respective exclusive artifacts. Then invest in Hypnos and her exclusive. A rather slow path, and not recommended. But if you roll into Asclepius or Perseus’ artifact. It is technically an option. Just don’t use Hypno until you’re fully set up for her. (that’s a thing for late game, actually!)
- Ultimately, if you go down the first route, you can still invest in Offee afterwards.
Other considerations: Fie – rukbat are potentially good limited Aeons that can benefit this style of team. If you got somewhat lucky with their summons, you can consider making heavy investments in them. Make sure to invest in Moana heavily as you do.
Keep in mind, the team is hyper offense, so unless you can make your back row bulkier with the help of moana and certain chaos units. You’re likely to lose your mirror matches into other uru teams. All Hyper offense teams are volatile by default of course.
Uru – Olympus (Uruanna, heracles, hestia, apollo, probably rin, perseus or moana):
- This one is more straightforward. Wishlist Uru and Apollo, aim for Apollo’s artifact. Grow Apollo after you raise Uruanna to UR5. The main idea is Uruanna would leave the opponent team battered if she hasn’t already wiped them, Apollo cleans up.
- Following this, you either get Offee cuz she’s good with hyper offense, and work towards her artifact. Or you bide your time a bit more to raise your baseline by awakening hestia, rin/moana/heracles.
Other considerations: If you miss the pity on Apollo’s artifact or Offee. It’s going to be a good idea to start raising the aeon corresponding to the artifact you just got if it’s Asclepius’, Moana’s, Eltanin’s or Perseus’. Cry if it was Kelis’ and probably skip Dove’s if you got that.
Now Apollo and Olympus and a whole does not scale too well into late game. They have no olympus wall-breaker. And Apollo is entirely countered by late game Asclepius. So you’ll be looking into alternative teamstyles going into late game (consult other Uru sections ngl). But that’s a problem for future-you!! Investing in an aeon who is just good at the moment for midgame is perfectly reasonable.
Just don’t get too attached.
Uru – Artemis (You somehow get UR3 Uru and a decent 5 star Artemis who easily outclasses Perseus? Hyper offense)
- Invest in Uru and Artemis simultaneously. You’ll only want to keep Perseus around as a stat stick, once Artemis is Ur3, you can very confidently drop perseus.
- Following that is Offee and her exclusive artifact the usual
- You can consider raising demeter as well as your 3rd ranger. Then you’d have Uru for AOE burst, Demeter for MP control, Artemis for wall-breaking. Very flexible.
- After all that, you got pretty much all the damage you’d need. Start looking into healing options like Asclepius (really good) or Moana (supports Crits)
Other consideration: Yeah uh, this team is fucking good with Achernar. Keep an eye out on that. (oh wait, that’s a late game thing!!) But yeah, if you’re gonna pick a limited aeon to invest on the side, it’s Achernar. Try to look into Astral Elves mentioned in Dove section.
If you UR3 Artemis
You have a very powerful burst option, which you can use to murder the opposing team’s tempo ranger, this will enable you to play either balanced offense or hyper offense, and you’ll have to contend with a lot of micro-work with moving Artemis around for specific matchups.
- Unlike the previous Aeons, you don’t actually need to push Artemis to UR5 first. She’s not all the damage the team needs, just a part of your damage plan. Of which you have quite a few UR3 to go for:
- Demeter, UR3 Demeter should give quite a bit of flexibility into how you want to approach certain matchups.
- Uruanna (just going to be like the Uru – Artemis team above)
- Biscuit, might sound wild but Biscuit is a good control aeon, should help your balanced team a lot against the slough of hyper offense.
- Dove, honestly never too late for Dove.
- And naturally, all these lead to investing in Late game Offee in the background and her exclusive artifact.
Other considerations: Again, Artemis ability to take out opposing tempo units and just output a lot of damage allows room for a lot of flexibility in teambuilding. Therefore, you can kinda just pivot your team to whose-ever artifact you get if you miss Offee. (Dove, Eltanin, Moana, Asclepius, Apollo)
If you UR5 Perseus
So the thing about UR5 Perseus instead of UR3 the recommended aeon is that you’re now down 9 compasses for your general team (now that most of your power is focused on 1 unit instead of a few, Uruanna is going to cook your team) and you don’t actually have a commanding aeon for midgame. Of course, if you end up here for the Sphinx’s skin alone, it’s fine. And here’s how to rectify this:
- Perseus’ best shot of getting through the midgame is to be in a Moana chaos team. Because she is not as immediately threatening as Uruanna or Dove, her team will usually have to take the slower side of the battle. Therefore, the balance that moana + chaos units (it’s Areka – biscuit and Demeter’s mp control) bring to a team can be crucial in surviving the onslaught of said fast opponents.
- Which means getting UR3 Demeter for more consistency on that mp control
- You can also get Uruanna to UR3 too, if that’s practical. She is good with Moana after all
(recommended to rebirth Perseus back down to UR3 if it means you can get these two UR3 earlier)
- And since the team hinges on Moana and other chaos units keeping the team alive. The first artifact to aim for is actually Moana’s artifact, not Perseus (mainly because it doesn’t boost Perseus’ damage output in a meaningful way in this stage.) UR5 Moana is needed for that, too.
- And as per usual, invest in Offee in the background, aim for her artifact after Moana and will solve the damage plan going into late game.
Other considerations: So when do you actually get Perseus’ exclusive? Well. It’s After you got Hypnos’ exclusive and Asclepius’, following Offee obviously. Of course, if you end up getting other artifacts like Apollo or Eltanin, start raising them just to get the benefit of the artifact is fine too. Perseus teams need all the help they can get for midgame.
Speaking of which, rukbat – fie is also in consideration for long-term investment here, as per Moana team. If you got lucky, Rukbat might provide the push you need to fully pursue Perseus’ artifact, more on that on a lategame guide (eventually).
