Backpack Brawl – How to Play Sage

Quick Guide to Sage

In the beginning I’d suggest focusing on econ – chances are you will always lose the first couple games, so use the hearts wisely to get the momentum.

Priority number one should be filling the bright slots with any three weapons (rocks preferred, daggers wildly recommended since they still attack and don’t consume stamina), from there the next step should be improving your crossbow to the max – imho it’s pointless to have more than two tops, + better crossbows shoot more bolts at the same time.

Upgrading bolts is important, so now it’s decision time: either you invest in the weapons beyond the crossbow or buy extra bolts – better bolts are always better, sometimes it’s wise to just not use the basic bolts at all because you lose momentum by shooting them in the first place.

I personally dislike the poison bolts since they aren’t exactly an upgrade, because the stack size doesn’t change.

I usually start buying general items to counter things, buy econ items at like 4-5 games in and just keep improving what I got until I get the unique, which decides what build I take – most rely on the crossbows, some don’t even need weapons by 12 wins.

  • You can rely on shared items first until you’re more familiar with her items.
  • Crossbow can be slow at first, so you really need other weapons for damage input and some armor to survive long enough. It might be until Battle 7+ when you can rely on all her items alone.
  • Bag placement can be tough, but I found it’s easiest to shoot at the sky, with lighter back at the bottom, bolts on top.
  • Please note that bolt doesn’t do anything if there is no crossbow activating it. Kunai unlocking later also doesn’t do anything if their damage dealer are all pets.
