Cat Fantasy – How Banners / Units Work

Quick Guide to Banner Systems and How Getting Characters Work

By Raze2012.

This Just a quick overview of the banner systems and how getting characters work.

Regular Banner (and Dupe Mechanics)

Nothing super unusual, basically the same as Genshin’s. You got a 0.8% SSR rate, 80 pity. Daily free pull.

You use Pathos Crystal (which I will just call “purple orbs” lol), and you get a lot of these from playing the game. You will probably hit this pity at least twice a month F2P if you keep up with dailies and events. Easily every week if you buy the monthly sub or the Forever pack. Your premium currency exchanges 180 Opal (diamonds) for 100 purple orbs, so keep that in mind (and NEVER do this lol).

BIG caveat for rerolling: for rerolling: I believe within the first 25-30 pulls on normal banner you are guaranteed an SSR. but that SSR isn’t all the characters in normal pool. This is what the following section is trying to say.

After this is pulled you should have a completely normal banner, so keep that in mind if you are rerolling for a specific cat.

If you pull dupes, you get a curency to use at Star Up later on:

You will need 9 dupes total (10 of the same character) to max star up a character. the first 3 stars will only need one copy (100 shards, what you get from pulling a dupe), but the other 3 stars require 200 shards. SSR Dupes do have a big (but not insurmountable) effect on the cats, so keep this in mind.

When you max out a cat (or if you really not want to invest in them), you are able to trade these shards into the exchange menu (right side of first pic):

The extra shards convert 1:1, so you can essentially turn 3 extra SSR Pulls into a wishlist (covered next section) or hold on to them and wait for your SSR of choice to rotate into shop for 2 extra pulls. So it’s never too bad to have a bunch of random SSR pulls

Wishlist Summon

This is a quick one to explain. You pick 5 characters of your choice, and this ticket will guarantee one of those 5 come out. Tickets are rare-ish but you’ll still get plenty of pulls overtime. You can change the wishlist anytime so feel free to swap in and out whatever you want to max out quickly.

Event / Rate-Up Banners

And here’s where the real meat is.

This is also the same as genshin (minus the gear gacha). To explain in detail:

50% rate-up that the game sorta fibs about with the 2.2% rate. your REAL odds are 0.4% to get rate up character, but pity is still 80. This pity works on a 50/50 system: when you pull an SSR, The game keeps track of whether it’s a rate up or not. If you miss the rate-up, the next SSR you pull is guaranteed to be rate-up. So at worst, you need 160 pulls to guarantee pity a character.

Keep in mind this that both your pull count and your 50/50 carries between banners. e.g. if you do 120 pulls for Echo here and you missed the 50/50, the next banner will still have 40 pulls to go, and you will guarantee pull rate-up next.

Special Cystals (imma call ’em Red Orbs) are less generous than Purple. You mostly get them from events (and exchanging diamonds), and odds are you won’t be able to pity every banner (let alone guarantee rate up). But as long as events rotate you shouuld be able to get rate up every 2-3 rotations, depending on luck and your diamond count. Red cyrstals are also 100 per 180 daimonds so THIS is where most of your diamonds will go, unless you’re using it for stamina or something.

I’ll note that either monthly plan, Permanent Plan, or Battle Pass + event currency should give you enough to pity every event banner.

Note: For… reasons, this Maid Echo is behind a $1 paywall and is not in current banners. So she’s essentially a VIP character in SEA. I hope they that in Global, but who knows?

Weirdest part is that I don’t even think Global has a chance to 6 star her (and as said before, dupes have big effects). Baffling all around…

TLDR

  • Banners are like genshin (without gear gacha), low rates but low pity and mileage.
  • You get a lot of regular pulls and only some event pulls f2p (maybe enough to pity every 2-3 banners).
  • Dupes matter, but aren’t gamebreaking. So don’t be stingy with pulls.
