What Are the Best Skills to Spend Your Skill Points On?
By FrostyGrl.
You only get 40 skill points in total because that’s when your level is capped. So plan carefully. I recommend reading through them all, figuring out what skills you want and need and then what skills those ones require you to have. Write them down and tally the points until you have a set of skills you like.
If you want to unlock everything that can get you all the achievements, then there are quite a few you want to unlock. All the ‘key’ features such as gardening and research facilities, and big fish.
These Were My Choices:
The Necessary (in my opinion) ones.
- Explorer – 1
- Bookworm – need for research facilities – 2
- Home cook – for research facilities skill – 1
- Friendly neighbour – for supply chain – 1
- Forest citizen – for greenhouse – 2
- Supply chain – 3
- Greenhouse – 2
- Brewing – 2
- Research facilities – 3
- Party planner – 3
- Gourmet gastronomy – 4
- Recruiter – 3
For a total of 27 out of 40 points.
And then personal preferences (you could swap out the Resourceful Hunter for the vending machine skill or something, as well as Oceaneer; I just wanted them as my way to get more recipes and unique items. Also, you could swap True Gourmet for some other 5-point skill, but that may require reworking what other skills you get).
- True gourmet – requires recruiter skill above- 5 points.
- Resourceful hunter – 3 points.
- Oceaneer – for the big fish and an achievement- requires explorer – 3 points.
Was left with 2 additional points so I got:
- Line cook – 1
- I work out – 1
But most importantly, have fun! I sank nearly 40 hours into my first playthrough and was blindsided by the points, so I’ve restarted and I’m having a blast with this run.
To be honest, after playing this run with all these skills, I didn’t really need Resourceful Hunter. I still like it, but I would swap it for something else now. I probably would swap it for the vending machine skill.
