Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster – Survivors Favorite Items

Guide to Survivors Favorite Items

What Do Favorite Items Do?

At the start of the game, your notebook is empty. You fill it as you progress. Survivor portraits appear when you meet them. The first slot unlocks when a survivor joins you. Other slots unlock if you have the right item or make the survivor happy.

A screen shows if the favorite item is food or a weapon. Survivors say they like it when given a favorite item.

Note:

  • Most men and some women have favorite weapons.
  • Most women and injured survivors only have favorite foods.

Benefits:

  • Giving a favorite food reveals the other two slots in the notebook.
  • Favorite food fully restores health, even if already full.
  • Favorite weapons make survivors attack faster and kill zombies in one hit.
  • Happy survivors (shown by a blue smile on your watch) help others in trouble.

Conclusion

You can find favorite items across multiple playthroughs, as the list saves. These items don’t change the game much, except for making some weak characters like Aaron and Gordon more brave during escorts. It’s usually not worth the effort to get these items. Some are only found in specific places, like certain foods in the supermarket or weapons in particular stores.

Items for Day 1 survivors are easy to find nearby. Day 2 and 3 survivors might need items from farther away or cooked foods.

This feature is interesting but doesn’t do much after you bring survivors to the safe house. They just stay there until the ending. It would be cool if survivors could help you fight, like in Dead Rising 3, but the game still limits how many can follow you.
