Death Must Die – Nixi Poison Darts Build D100

Nixi (Mind Reaper) Poison Darts Build D100

By Slott.

This build guide focuses on a consistent* way to clear up to Darkness 100. I was saddened to see how little strike support Nixi’s talent tree got, and seemed forced into picking a poison based one.

This build has multiple ways to scale, depending on which legendary selections come up. It has consistent AOE, DOT and survivability (aside from the first few minutes).

Talents

The Talent Tree and Why:

This talent tree focuses on giving Nixi a consistent way to scale/proc Poison Darts, Scale and proc Poison, and have consistent enough* dashes to survive.

  • Tier 1: Pick up the crit talents, the build needs a reasonable amount of crit chance to proc poison darts. 2 points into alteration is also welcomed for more consistent rolling.
  • Tier 2: Attack speed, poison chance (Note – poison will stack several times by the end, and we want it to proc consistently early game to help with kills). The 1 point in Shard range can be moved elsewhere.
  • Tier 3: Nothing – if you are farming lower level content, I suggest having 4/4 in movespeed (You can probably cut a few points of attackspeed, poison or the 1 point in shard distance)
  • Tier 4: Kill chance – a 12% chance to kill (bug ladies, genies, dogs) any enemy on critical strikecontact. This is utility and lets you 1 shot elites sometimes. 1 point in Poison damage reduction to get to the next tier. The makeshift combat may seem counterintuitive, but it is for synergy later on.
  • Tier 5: Poison Darts (our main aoe), stack poison 2 more times, and the key to our survivability – 10% chance to refresh dodge on attack. You will be dodging a lot with this build. This is a key talent to pick up.
  • Tier 6: 6 more poison darts per crit
  • Tier 7: Poison now scales based off attack damage (50%, put 2 points here) Put 3 points into Rogue’s Legacy, granting a 72% attack multiplier – Note – this will be 60% because sickles of Mort is worth picking up regardless.
  • Tier 8: Infinite poison and more stacks

Gear Choices

  • The aim is to have a reasonable Master/Legendary Chance.
  • Life.
  • Critical strike chance (Or attack critical strike chance) *for poison darts.
  • Attack speed.
  • 1 item that has Frost Nova on dash.

Since we can refresh dashes by attacking, boots with +1 dash can be useful (mine don’t have it though)

Some general good uniques include:

  • The Black Lamp + Waste (this pretty much sets a good amount of Master/Legendary)
  • Helm with Master Chance, Life, rerolls
  • Chest with EXP, Life, Rerolls, Frost Nova or Unique – the Trailed Wanderer
  • Weapon: Unique (Tooltip) or high damage. Chance to immobilize is great here. High attack speed or crit chance are excellent choices here
  • Gloves: Attack Speed, shard distance, etc
  • Ring: Some more legendary chance here. Crit chance – rest can be attackspeed, anything else
  • Boots: Movespeed, extra Dash, life, exp
  • Amulet/Jewel: Crit chance, attack speed, rerolls, attack damage

Gods

God Choices and Why:

I believe the following options are the most optimal, but as I’m not knowledgeable about the games damage calculations, these may be partially incorrect.

Krom:

  • Rampaging Strike – the main skill you want to level as often as you can, and master level is obviously preferred. This skill increases our attack damage, which also increases poison and poison dart damage. It also increases attack range and has knockback. This significantly helps in keeping enemies out of range.
  • War PactIncreases damage dealt to bosses and enemy barriers – another great damage option
  • Fatality: This synergizes well with Nixi’s instant kill ability giving an even higher chance to kill a minion or elite
  • God of War A lot of damage – this helps scale all damage, and the downside can be mitigated
  • I do not believe any other krom abilities are worth picking up, as they only tend to help vs minions and not bosses. If you were to pick a strike skill, it should be Shurikens and you could utilize bloodlust. I do not think this is worth it!

Mort:

  • I’ll actually start with legendaries here as they are the reason for picking Mort
  • Vampirism – survivability.
  • Malady – this starts a chain reaction of enemies melting to poison as you walk near them. Entire screens of enemies just start dying from poison as you walk by. If you have immobilize on a weapon or frost nova proc on dash, this also chain spreads that, greatly increasing your survivability.
  • Sickles of Mort – these proc attack based effects suck as poison, instant kills, immobilize on weapon proc. The damage is OK – but this is great for utility.
  • Execution – Great for EXP, don’t overinvest in this.
  • Sudden Death – Insta kills many enemies. Put 1 point in then banish it.

Lady Justice:

  • Inner Peace – survivability, exp. Really needed for surviving high difficulty.
  • Day of Judgment – Another screen wipe. We can have 2 casts
  • Protection – armor for damage reduction helps survivability a lot.
  • Piety – helps for more healing
  • Reprisal – smite is great to help stun attackers – good survivability
  • Pandemonium – well, more skill levels? But yeah – this is a given.

Fates:

  • Vigor – more life is great – helps Inner Peace heal for more and give more of a cushion vs bosses.
  • *Critical Strike Chance – I forgot the name of this one – more critical strike chance helps proc Poison Darts more consistently and offers a good damage boost.
  • First Strike – this helps Sickle/your first attack start one shotting trash and do a lot of damage.
  • Fleet-Footed another dash is more consistent survivability.

Gameplay

You will be backpeddling a lot and timing your dashes so that you can hit an enemy (especially scary ones) a few times, then dash to take advantage of the immunity.

  • Always target the biggest threats first, or let poison tick them down.
  • Take advantage of dash and your ability to consistently get it back.

Prioritize shrines with attack speed, attack range, crit strike chance, status damage, knockback distance.
