Devas Of Creation – Quick Guide to PvP

PVP: How it Works

PvP (Player vs Player) refers to in-game combat between two or more players. This system changes from game to game, ranging from high stakes of permanent death (loss of progress) to even battleground games where PvP is the only focus. Here’s how it works in Devas of Creation:

Being In-Combat

When engaging in PvP, players are put in the state of “in-combat”, which is used more of as a warning, with changes and punishments being applied in certain situations.

Quitting the game while in-combat will kill the player in-game and have a chance of dropping a percentage of their currencies and items.

Flags

In DoC, players can be separated in three categories, which affect combat directly, but also goes to affect gameplay mechanics and player environment through a system which we call Flags.

Usually (outside of safe zones) players are able to choose rather they want to PvP or not, by a simple toggle. Passively, this is toggled off. Toggling PvP will make you Flagged. For simplicity, we refer to these players as Combatants.

Unflagged

  • All players start unflagged. In this state all abilities and m1s will not damage other players. However, they can damage Combatants as self defence, without penalty.
  • Distinguished by a white name color.

Flagged

  • Upon toggling PvP, the player becomes Flagged for PvP and will be able to deal and receive damage to/from other players, flagged or unflagged.
  • Combatants can fight eachother without penalty, however, were they to kill an unflagged player they receive a penalty and are considered Murderers.
  • Distinguished by a purple name color.

Murderer

  • Upon killing an unflagged player, Combatants are flagged as Murderers and receive a negative karma which will cause otherwise passive NPCs like Guards to attack on sight.
  • Murderers will also drop a portion of their inventories upon death.
  • To rid themselves of the karma and clean their name, players can typically kill mobs to slowly regain your reputation.
  • Distinguished by a red name color.

PvP Toggle

  • On:
    • The player’s name becomes purple.
    • The player can attack and deal damage to other players in PvP zones and default areas.
  • Off:
    • The player’s name is white.
    • The player cannot attack or deal damage to other players.

Toggling Restrictions

  • PvP Zones:
    • The player’s name becomes purple.
    • The player can attack and deal damage to other players in PvP zones and default areas.
  • Peace Zones:
    • The player’s name is white.
    • The player cannot attack or deal damage to other players.

Player Killer (PK) Status

  • Becoming a Player Killer:
    • A player becomes a Player Killer if they kill another player in a non-PvP zone (peace zone or default area) when that player’s PvP toggle is off (white name).
    • The Player Killer’s name turns red.
  • Risks and Consequences:
    • Players with PK status risk dropping items upon death.
  • Clearing PK Status:
    • Kill enough mobs to cleanse karma (karma increases when killing players in non-PvP zones with PvP toggle off).
    • Use [Karma Cleanser Potions] to decrease karma values until PK status is cleared.

Zones

Combat Zones are different places that attribute different characteristics to combat. There are only three types.

Peaceful Zones

Peaceful Zones are places where abilities and m1s are restricted, like cities.

  • No damage can be dealt, and skills cannot be used.
  • Current Peace Zones: [Virdis City]

Neutral Zones

Neutral Zones are places where players can choose between turning on PvP or not.

  • Most of the world falls into this category.
  • Killing players in this area, when their PvP toggle is on, will result in becoming a Player Killer if done improperly.

PvP Zones

PvP Zones are places where players can kill each other without punishments and PvP is passively on.

  • Players enter with PvP toggle automatically turned on (purple name).
  • Killing players in this zone does not result in becoming a Player Killer.
  • Example: The Catacombs, an underground dungeon with high-level mobs.
