How to Fix Rubber Banding
For any experiencing so called Rubber Banding / Lag / Hanging / Delayed Actions / Prolonged Stuttering which seems and feels like a networking issue, although it is on Blizzards end, you can fix it by lowering texture setting to medium or low.
Works 100% and solved all my friends issue with that too. It has nothing to do with fiddling your network settings. As weird as it sounds technically, Textures are probably starts streaming past High+ and thats what causing that issue.
- Lower your Texture settings to Medium or Low.
Medium does the job for my 3070TI even tho I run on 1440p. No more Issues.
Update
An update: It’s true that if it’s actual rubber banding issue, these probably not going to work BUT, and this is a big BUT.
If you are using 80gb~ installation with HD texture packs and have 8GBs of VRAM just like myself with my RTX 3070, you will run out of virtual memory.
It WILL feel and look the same as what you would experience if it was Rubber Banding issue. Exactly the same symptom but more promptly compared to actual rubber banding issues.
So the update is as follows (if you are using a 8GBs VRAM card like RTX 3070).
Instead of lowering textures to medium with HD PACK which will make your game look like its 10 years old and blurry and HIGH d reproduce the issue:
- Go on Battle.net client.
- Click one gear icon next to PLAY, hit modify installation.
- Untick high resolution texture pack.
- Confirm to uninstall that pack to save 40 gbs of space too.
- Hit play and Crank ALL your settings to high safely.
I play @1440p and with HD pack I got freezes on high textures and medium looks so bad it feels worse than low D3 settings. Removing the pack virtually made NO difference at all in terms of graphical fidelity BUT allowed me to use HIGH settings with no stutter or delayed actions issue.
Before it was using exactly 8190 MBs of VRAM with stutter. Now it peaks at 7.7~ max with smooth gameplay and crisp textures.
