Upgrade Hero and Pairing
Look at the talents and skills to assess a hero. Generally, the Lead hero should have the Skills talent tree and the assistant should have skills that compliment the leader’s skills. The only time Garrison and Siege talents or skills trigger are during Player versus Player when attacking an enemy player occupied tower, fort, or shelter.
- For talent trees, prioritize the talents that build rage so that the main damaging skill more frequently triggers.
- For Skills prioritize rage damage skill, then skills that will always be active or will be active in PvP.
Pairings
You will likely be using mixed troops until you get to tier 3 / tier 4 when you being to have enough of one type to fill a squad. If you compare Liam and Charlie, Liam’s “Complete Works” skill applies to all squads, while Charlie’s skills specify that only infantry squads will benefit from the skill. Prefer leaders whose skills benefit all squads instead of specific squads until later.
Focus on these available leaders (until you have the resources to compete in Top Commander and Lucky Roulette):
- For Z-Adventure Liam, Charlie/Jaden, and Angela/Peggy
Vs Zombies
- Peggy and Capt. Russell. (vs zombie skills) Optional: Samuel, Akemi, Park, (see below for Jaden, Lee, and Martin)
Vs Player
- Charlie, Liam, Freya, Seo or Akemi, Park
“Universal” Assistants
- Akemi, Samuel, Marco & Eri (expensive to skill up), Leader heroes (exception being Lee), Martin, Xia,
Early pairings Leader (Assistant)
- Liam (Martin, any universal)
- Charlie infantry (any universal, Akemi or Xia for aoe)
- Freya riders (Park, Cynthia, Akemi or Xia for aoe, Allison)
- Seo or Akemi ranged (Seo, Xia, or Doctor in a pinch)
- Jaden (Peggy, Russell, Martin, any universal)
- Samuel (Park, Lee, any universal) put a debuffer as assistant for damage over time heroes
Zombie Hunter leaders have talents that boost damage vs zombies/hives and save stamina if you are concerned about that.
Notes on Heroes from Advanced Police Searches
- Cynthia should probably be Park’s assistant for Water War / Bounty Ground if you are not spending on her skin and fragments.
- Jaden, Lee, Martin, only up to level 40 or ignore as they are legendary badge expensive and time consuming to rank and level skills when better heroes exist.
- Raigoro and Tom might be situationally useful once you are consistently participating in events, but other legendary heroes are typically better.
- Peter and Hank: better legendary heroes exist for siege roles.
Try to only use their fragments obtained from searches to level their skills.
Samuel can be useful early. For gathering level 5 of them equally for the lead gatherer role and the other five use the level 10 rank 1 to rank 4 method and wait to level more until later. Eventually pair:
- Angela/Sara for food
- Michelle/Jeremy for wood
- Kris/Alexander for steel
- Xia/Maxine for oil
- Andrew or Doctor to level and lead for the “wild card” gather pair.
Note: 5th squad unlocks at HQ level 20.
Angela (heal, HP increase, Squad capacity increase) and Alexander (Buffs, heal) have some usefulness early on, especially as assistants in the Arena of Doom. They are considered “useless” in PvP because the legendary rarity heroes are generally much better for the EXP investment, and the gathering heroes have more skills that benefit gathering over fighting.
Other early or situationally useful Arena of Doom assistant heroes are Edward and John S, but avoid investing EXP as you likely will not have a use for them otherwise.
