Doomsday: Last Survivors – Tips for Choosing a Leader and Assistant

How to Choose a Leader and Assistant

For the assistant thing I think it’s better to have the concept generally of why a hero is a good assistant vs leader rather than an exhaustive list.

A lot of times it’s preference and most heroes can do both.

The criteria for good leaders is more strict imo, assistants can almost be anyone.

The “rules” for me are:

Good leaders

  1. Have a good talent tree.
  2. Boost the stats of your squad, or debuff the enemy target with their rage skill.

Good assistants

  1. High rage skill damage when paired with a debuff leader.
  2. Bad talent tree options.

Examples

  • Riven is a much better assistant because her talent trees are inferior to Garrison and skill infantry heroes.
  • Alexander is a good assistant and ONLY assistant in pvp because he has 0 talent tree option for combat.
  • Lee and Robert better leaders because they reduce the defensive stats of the target, letting your assistant rage skill do even more damage.

Aoe heroes I usually prefer as assistants for this reason- a leader buffs their attack, or debuffs the enemies, and the aoe is even more effective then as a follow up.

Bonus thoughts

There’s also characters that people say they will always focus if they see them in the field. Bianca would be an example as someone probably better / safer / slighty longer TTL as assistant.

Hiding a good hero as assistant can be effective in brawls for sure that’s a good point too.
