All Heroes Guide
Heroes are an important part of this game, you should know which ones are appropriate for you before investing in them, especially if F2P.
Ranged Heroes
Elite
Seo Jin-a – mediocre ranged hero, has a nice amount of tankiness for early game but low damage so i would not bother. Skill order: 1342. From the attack tree, take the Hot-Blooded skill (rage) and the King of War (increase in attack per star rank). The rest should go into ranged squad.
Akemi – ok ranged hero, has aoe and some nice damage, main problem is lack of skills tree and no tankiness. Skill order: 1243. From the attack tree, take the Hot-Blooded skill (rage) and the King of War (increase in attack per star rank). The rest should go into ranged squad.
Legendary
Nakano – Do not bother with her, she has no tankiness, low damage, and requires the usual investment of a legendary hero (fragments, high amount of stars etc.). If you really want to use her, 1324 is the order. First take the rage from ranged squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into ranged squad.
Louis – Amazing hero, even can be used outside of ranged pairings, has rage increase, skill damage, and circular aoe when awakened. Skill order: 1243. I would not recommend getting him above rank 4 as he is not needed to be a leader. But if you do end up levelling him: First take the rage from ranged squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into ranged squad.
Chun – Her skills have potential, but unfortunately her high rage requirement (no other hero has higher than 1000) really makes her hard to use unless you spend a LOT, because ranged is targetted very fast anyway so by the time you get your rage skill off, you will most likely be under 50% troops at which point her damage will be not much anyway. Skill order: 1243. First take the rage from ranged squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into ranged squad.
Johnny Kerry – Do NOT go for this hero in top commander. His original purpose was to deal with thunder, in which he failed at doing due to how much thunder actually ends up healing, and how much tankiness he has outside of that. In every other area, there are heroes that do things better, so do not go for him. If you got his fragments before finding this guide… 1324 would be the skill order. I would not use him as leader because he does not have skills tree.
Julia – Amazing ranged hero, tankiness, a silence on awaken, and some high damage to go with that. Skill order: 1432. I would awaken her as soon as you can if you plan on running ranged rallies yourself. First take the rage from ranged squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into ranged squad.
Jacob – Solid garrison hero, and decent in the field but there are better options. Skill order: 1324. Max the defense tree, take the rage from ranged squad tree, and then take the rage from garrison tree, all the skill damage reduction, and 1 level of High Walls.
Lynne – Good hero to use in the field, her skills are very much based around that, because she is resistant to being flanked. If you are planning on maining ranged troops, she would be the 1st to awaken for the field (her awaken grants even more anti-flank capabilities). Skill order: 1324. First take the rage from ranged squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Take the squad travel speed in general tree, and then the rest goes into ranged squad tree.
Bard – Absolutely game changing rally hero. Has tankiness, high damage factor aoe, high skill damage and high attack. Skill order: 1423. I wouldn’t use him as leader, use a skills tree hero.
Rider Heroes
Elite
Park – Only really for zombie hunting or bounty ground, but if you do not have cynthia yet he can be used in place of her. Skill order: 1342. Take the rage from the rider squad tree, then take everything but marching strategy in the field battle tree. Take the squad travel speed after Fatal Attack in zombie hunter tree, and then rest into rider squad.
Freya – I would not bother investing in her, just wait until you get the legendary heroes. Her rage skill range is too small, and she has no permanent travel speed.
Legendary
Cynthia – A very flawed hero in combat, but she is good at what she does; weaving in and out of enemy territory. Skill order: 1243. Take the rage from the rider squad tree, then take everything but marching strategy in the field battle tree. Take the squad travel speed after Fatal Attack in zombie hunter tree, and then rest into rider squad.
Catherine – She has pretty high damage, but no tankiness which is an issue when she is still weaker than some of the later heroes. Skill order: 1423. First take the rage from rider squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into rider squad.
Bella – Very high damage hero, needs to be with a high survivability assistant majority of the time. Her rage skill boosts damage for every squad attacking her, so take note of that. Skill order: 1423. First take the rage from rider squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into rider squad.
Sven – Solid siege hero (rallies/attacks on enemy buildings/shelters), decent in field, and quite tanky. Unless you are rallying with him, i would leave him at 5551. Don’t lead with him, use a skills tree hero.
Elena – High damage hero with some good tankiness, specialising in flanking the enemy. Skill order: 1432. First take the rage from rider squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into rider squad.
Jonathan – Do not under any circumstances go for this hero in Top Commander, he is not worth it for anyone (unless you have awakened the other heroes available already). He has a rage skill mainly locked to hitting rallies only (either counter rally or swarming), and his other skills have too many requirements or have a cooldown. Just don’t bother.
Mai – High damage hero with very high speed. Unfortunately she was only available during a collab event so she might not be available to you so apologies if that’s the case and just ignore this. Skill order: 1324. Take the rage from the rider squad tree, then take everything but marching strategy in the field battle tree. Take the squad travel speed in general tree, and then rest into rider squad.
Felix – High damage hero with some tankiness, racks up even more damage over time. Skill order: 1234. First take the rage from rider squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into rider squad.
Infantry Heroes
Elite
Edward – dont use him.
Charlie – nice for early game and for arena until you get stronger options. Skill order: 1324. First take the rage from infantry squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into infantry squad.
Legendary
Raigoro – Alright hero but I would not upgrade him outside of the fragments you get from the police station and alliance league chests. Skill order: 1234. First take the rage from infantry squad and defense tree, and then max infantry guard in the infantry squad tree. Max damage control in the defense tree, and then finish with infantry squad tree.
Tom – Alright hero with a decent teamwide damage reduction buff, i wouldnt upgrade him outside of fragments you get from the police station, unless less than a skill away from awakening. Skill order: 1342. First take the rage from infantry squad and defense tree, and then max infantry guard in the infantry squad tree. Max damage control in the defense tree, and then finish with infantry squad tree.
Adut – Great field hero, lots of travel speed, some tankiness and also high damage. Skill order: 1423. First take the rage from infantry squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into infantry squad.
Thunder – A flawed hero, due to having no form of damage in any of his skills, except for counter damage in garrison. His healing without any damage to use the troops results in a lot of lightly wounded being converted into heavily wounded. If strong enough, he can stall garrison for a long while if a building is needed to be held, but he has not been ideal for a while. In the field, his only use is to be a buff/debuffer once awakened thanks to his dmg increase awakened skill. First take the rage from infantry squad and defense tree, and then max infantry guard in the infantry squad tree. Max damage control in the defense tree, and then finish with infantry squad tree. Alternatively, you can max garrison tree and take the rage from defense and infantry squad tree and then the rest into defense.
Robert – High damage hero, but with his cooldowns on his skills and huge lack of tankiness, it can become a problem if he is targetted. His rage skill is very impactful for other squads hitting the target and also his assistant. Skill order: 1234. First take the rage from infantry squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into infantry squad.
Eddie – Really good rally hero, alright to solid in field. His awakened skill debuffs 3 enemies’ hp so is useful for other squads. Skill order: 1432. I would not lead with him, lead with a skills tree hero.
Miyamoto – Great field hero, very high damage and a good amount of travel speed once awakened. He is also the only legendary hero of infantry to be aoe, so take note. Skill order: 1234. First take the rage from infantry squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into infantry squad.
Riven – Super versatile hero, able to be ran in any situation. Skill order: 1234. I would not lead with her unless you are garrisoning, and there, other options are better leaders since she doesnt have garrison tree. Max defense tree and the rest into infantry squad if you must.
Leader Heroes
Elite
Liam McFadden – Good for early game, not worth using from then on (unless in arena of doom). Skill order: 1324. First take the rage from leader squad tree, and then max the skills tree (avoid Double-Edged sword). Rest goes into leader squad.
Legendary
Jaden – A hero mainly for zombie killing, his rage skill gives a high defense debuff to the enemy but it is risky to use him in combat because of his lack of offensive skills. Skill order: 1432. Take the rage from attack tree, rest into leader tree.
Lee Seung-won – Another hero mainly for zombie killing, but his rage skill is worth using even as assistant. Only upgrade him through the police station, but only 5151 is needed. Take the rage from support tree, and the skill damage reduction, put the rest into leader tree.
Master Jin – Ok rally assistant when you do not have anything better, gives squad capacity and a 5 second buff. But he should not be the priority to use as assistant, most appropriate heroes will do better than him. Don’t use in field. Skill order: 1234. Dont lead with him, use a skills tree hero.
Bianca – Extremely valuable buffer in the field and to rallies as a support squad. Skill order: 1423. I would not use her as leader, use with a defense tree hero.
Victor – Superb garrison hero, you cannot go wrong putting him there, mediocre on the field. Skill order: 1342. Take the rage from all 3 trees, take damage control from defense tree, take segmented defense and joint attack from leader tree, rest into garrison.
