Mastering The Priest
By PriestLarry.
I’m here to teach you about the wonderful but currently underused class which is the priest! Now let me preface this by saying that the priest is a tough nut to crack and can be intimidating at first to someone new to the dungeon or just new to casters in general. With that being said, lets get into it.. and remember, the light is a force to be reckoned with when mastered.
As a priest we fall into the dungeon with a pyro staff and a shield and mace. As well as armed with the holy knowledge of healing and Flash like powers.
The first thing ill tell you that you must do is this: Find a lightning staff as soon as possible. it is just much better for priest and just overall in my opinion!
Now lets talk skills and perks:
- We have a heal as priest that allows for a quick cast or a longer charged heal for more healing. Both are useful in various scenarios but ill tell you, if you got the mana pots just spam the quick heal, with high faith you are just going to be full healing so fast.
- The shield on priest to anyone who first uses/sees it blows them away. Its insane and I absolutely love it. It allows you to shield yourself with a strong HP shield and gives you large amount of movement speed. And i really mean large.
The perks you should be focusing for priest are these (in order of priority):
- Faith
- Stamina
- Will
(Intellect optional-not recommended focus)
If you see the included picture, there are a couple colors, The BLUE color indicates our shield/stamina pairing AND the RED color indicates our Faith/Will/Heal pairing.
- Blue Upon reaching 25 stamina, you are given the ability to give your teammates your shield/speed buff. This changes everything.
- Red As you level, your faith will naturally rise. However you need to get to 70 faith. this gets you rez and that is strong right now. You can also counter cryo/rogue with the dispel at 45 faith. And as mana mgt. 25 will HELPS.

Thank you so much for this guide. I typically lean into support/healer/caster roles. So much much appreciated…
After this experience I have to admit the the priest felt much better than I thought before, to my shame I deleted a lvl 5 priest on the first few days cause his power level isn’t any near to the general melee classes.
After reading this guide I felt motivated to try him again, but I rather focused on dodging pvp encounters, cause the offense is not very good in comparison to other fighters.
With this behavior I throw my shield away, because it could increase my survivability, but the dps with raised shield wasn’t any near to kill someone and it slows me to much to get out of fight effectively. So I could run away, get the healing poping and turn around joining the fight again if possible to kill the opponent. With the speed boost I mostly used to escape the enemies abilities like a Warriors whirwind. With this technique I managed to survive well in solo, the only hard counter to this is a good geared rogue, because he would outspeed you in the long run, you could sprint away for a brief second, but he will catch you, so stay away when you hear daggers.
As a player who’s first created and max levelled character was a priest. Playing both solo and 3’s I can say the priests lack of a combo with the mace made him feel very underwhelming. If the dude can learn to heal someone and cast a spell which shrouds himself in a protective shield. I’m sure he could learn to use a 1h sword or at least a 1,2,3 combo with his ONLY melee weapon. The re-wind up time for missing a hit with the mace is far to punishing and the repeated downward strike just feels sloppy and weak. All other casters are able to combo and can use 1h swords I feel the priest was neglected by getting the mace treatment.
