Guide to City Building
To claim a city, just go there.
Improving a city has two simple requirements:
- Building Material.
- Workers.
Building Material can be crafted from Pig Iron, but the easiest way to get it is to simply purchase it from a city that exports it. It’s somewhat heavy and expensive but you don’t need much to get started!
Any trucker recruited to your party can be assigned to the city. Bars offer a “Labor” option that allows you to recruit an NPC with useful skills for the city.
Some buildings require a minimum Prosperity. Prosperity is gained from buildings, so just keep pouring Material in and you’ll unlock everything.
Once you’ve rebuilt a building, it creates one or more Jobs, which can be given to NPCs to create resources. Workers have no needs or requirements unless the Job lists one (you need Wheat to make Flour, but your Worker doesn’t eat or drink). Jobs have skill requirements- higher skills can produce up to double the output!
Once Prosperity reaches 11, the town will periodically be attacked. It is important to upgrade the wall to accommodate multiple defenders, choose skilled fighters, and assign high quality weapons to them, as well as stockpile ammo and medkits! Oddly, Walls grant far fewer combat bonuses compared to a well-stocked Truck.
