How do crew attributes work?
In the crew stats menu, on the left you can read how some stats work. Sometimes it’s the average number from the crew stats (fishing) sometimes the crew value is the best stats of one of them (crafting). Click on the question sign. Sometimes a trick could be left in the bar the crewmate who decrease the crew value, when this value is average stats ad example.
Does unit price go up when you buy higher quantities?
It’s because you’re depleting that city’s stock. The less items a city has, the higher the price.
Amount of input material for double the output (producing items in your city/cities)
The ammo count is the amount of times the gun fires. So if it’s 2 ammo cost and 1-5 damage, you can potentially do 2-10 damage with that gun.
Haggling is important
Haggling on prices is a great way to trade time for Speech skill. I literally have tried to bargain both while selling and buying every single time. And at Level 16 my Speech is at 98 with a couple of pieces of gear boosting it. So, as long as you’re not in a hurry, haggle.
What’s the best way to thrive economically?
I also learned that too much scrap is not always good, it weighs down on your truck.
Scrap can be converted to creds at the bar or via the cb radio if there isn’t a bar. Creds don’t weigh anything. You lose some scrap in the process, but it lets you have unlimited cash.
I try not to trade in supplies at less than 20 over market value.
Deliveries that are self-procured are the best; they’re more weight efficient and tend to give better rewards. Try to keep at least 30 each of things like charcoal, flour, wood, etc on the truck.
Pre-fall electronics are 2k each in major cities. Giving clothing to infected travellers when you encounter them will get you 2 prefall electronics each time. I try to carry 8-10 clothing on my truck at all times.
Cooking. There is no limit of selling food, you can get tens of thousands from one city. This guide has full recipes. Personally I recommend Stuffed Flatbread (Meat, Vegetable, Egg, Flour, BaseSalt), which ingredients are easy to find, and you can still make good food with 4 of 5 ingredients.
If you don’t like cooking, just accept some delivery quests and buy/sell things along the road. And I usually stop by farms and get rations, which are easy to sell, even lowest price is around 50+.
Books for upgrading chars and random traits
So you can get books from either buying from a place that has them or making them using scrap paper, which you can find in some of the different landfills.
The random bad/good traits are ways of managing your truckers trait points or special traits.
- + Random bad trait gives that trucker a random red trait and gives them 1-2 trait points in return.
- – Random good trait removes a green trait and gives them 1-2 trait points in return.
- + Random good trait gives the trucker a random good trait at the cost of 2 trait points. If that trait is particularly good it will also come with a bad trait to balance.
- – Random bad trait removes a random red trait at the cost of 3 trait points.
Each of these options require an amount of books so make to have a good amount if you plan on fiddling with the truckers traits.
Also the map has a search button above the depart button which allows you to select a specific item and will highlight places on the map with a green circle if they have it but it won’t tell you if they produce it or need it.
