ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights – All Bosses Ending (B) Route and Guide

All Bosses Ending (B) Detailed Route and Guide

Short Introduction

What do you need to do?

Purify all 25 minor and major spirits and reach ending B.

Is it hard to complete a run?

It is, since it’s a speedrun we don’t have time to collect upgrades while going through the game, the main issues you’ll be facing are:

  • Being low level (common to all runs), hence only dealing small damage.
  • Being at a lower HP can be quite difficult for some portions of the run. The safe strats route minimizes that as much as possible.

What’s the estimate for this run?

After learning the tricky parts you should be able to get a sub 2h easily, and around 1:30 seems achievable if you’re flawless. (sub 1:20 with fast strats).

How are safe strats different from fast strats?

The main goal and idea behind fast strats is to accumulate 145 HP (5 amulet fragments and 1 big fragment) and have the broken music box equipped for the Blighted Lord fight. With this setup, since the spawns do 144 damage (with the music box), you will be able to survive 1 hit. With this setup, you can also take 1 hit from Miriel (only tested with the bomb attack).

Notation

I’ll be using a certain notation to help guide you readers through each section. The organization is general notes, then special tricks, then items, then spirits. Sometimes, there will be an additional section at the top for if you had to fast travel to a respite. If you need to swap spirit sets, there will also be a section at the bottom with the name of the respite, and the following system to describe the sets:

  • S1: spirit 1, spirit 2, spirit 3. S2: spirit 1, spirit 2, spirit 3.

I’ll be placing the spirits in the places that I find the most comfy, but if you’re used to something else, feel free to swap it. (I play on keyboard if that matters to you). Also, I’ll only mention the exact location of something if it’s a bit obscure.

The Route

Starting Area

Just go as fast as you can. There are a few minor tricks you can do to go faster, but nothing major.

Special tricks: if you hold the escape button/pause button as you select the empty save file, you’ll be able to skip both intro cutscenes with only 1 menu.

  • Items: none
  • Spirits: Seigrid

White Parrish

Another autoscroller section. Be mindful of the two cutscenes just as you enter the White Parish. When you get to the first white flower, you may find it easier to go over instead of under as the slug can be tough to jump over. Some slugs also attack early, so be ready to double jump at any time. You’ll be going up from the crossroads respite.

  • Special tricks: none
  • Items: none
  • Spirits: none

Cliffside Hamlet

First semi-complex section. For the 2 levers after the Collapsed Shack, you want to go down through the building for lever 1, and outside for lever 2. Be sure to go down so you collect Headless. After Gerrod, we’ll be fast travelling away. You can follow arrows 2 and 3 after Eleine.

Special tricks: Practice this area a bunch and find a good way to move through it. It’s frankly too complex to explain quickly.

  • Items: Broken music box (relic)
  • Spirits: Headless defender, Gerrod.

Respites:

  • Collapsed shack: S1: Umbral, Seigrid, none. S2: Umbral, Seigrid, none
  • Bridgehead: S1: Umbral, Seigrid, Headless. S2: Umbral, Seigrid, Headless

Witch’s Thicket

Fast travel: After Gerrod, fast travel to the Crossroads respite.

There are three amulet frags here. You’ll be sitting on the Witch’s Hermitage respite before going down to Floral, and then returning to respite after Floral.

The first is in the room just after the Dryad Lake respite. At the end of the room, instead of jumping down right away, jump across the pit and break the pots.

The second amulet frag is on the way to Floral. Hug the right wall of the elevator. Take the second door (closer to the right transition). Go left right away to get to the first elevator.

The third amulet frag is in the room to the right of Witch’s Hermitage. After you get past the 2 enemies that shoot 4 purple bolts, go down to the bottom platform. It has 3 pots. Break them and collect the fragment. You can get to the platform above with a double jump on the right hand side, so it’s actually one of the fastest amulet frags in the run.

  • Special tricks: don’t die. You can try to use Headless on Floral for max speed.
  • Items: Amulet fragments #1, #2 and #3.
  • Spirits: Floral Sorceress

Respites:

  • Witch’s Hermitage (after obtaining Floral):
    • S1: Umbral, Seigrid, Headless. S2: Gerrod, Seigrid, Floral.
  • Witch’s Hermitage (after beating Eleine, return to respite):
    • S1: Umbral, Seigrid, Headless. S2: Umbral, Seigrid, Floral.

Catacombs

You want to dive right after your second jump and aim for the right of the spider’s hitbox. Start jumping while it’s still going down, you don’t want it to start attacking because it moves its hitbox.

Fast travel: After Eleine, go to the Collapsed Shack respite.

Go right, hit the lever, then left to go to catacombs. Practice spider skip and the Silva juggle. Remember to sit on the Great Hall respite after spider skip so you can return after getting the ancient souls. After Silva, keep going right to get the fallen archer. In the Archer room, stick to the right hand side and go to the hidden room behind the door. The barrel at the far top left has a chain of sorcery. Mind the pot mimics. The priestess’ wish is just after Archer. Return to respite in preparation to fast travel after Archer.

Special tricks: When you climb a ledge, you get some I-frames. This can sometimes be useful as you climb the room just under the Great hall respite. Also, Seigrid’s aerial and Floral are very good at breaking doors.

Amulet frag #4 is just after spider skip, break the barrels.

  • Items: Fretia’s ring (parry), amulet fragment #4, 10 stagnant blight (just under great hall respite), 2 ancient souls, chain of sorcery #1, priestess’ wish #1.
  • Spirits: Silva, Fallen Archer.
  • Enhancements: Umbral lv 3, Seigrid lv 2.

First Backtrack (Small)

Fast travel: After Fallen Archer, go to the Collapsed Shack respite

Go to the Hamlet youth, pick up the chain. Then go to Western Merchant and get the Bloodied Ribbon. (You can swap the order if you want, just make sure to equip the Ribbon right away!)

Special tricks: Charge up SP to use on Merchant right away. Hit him with an aerial Umbral ult and then Floral and Seigrid to get a stagger and an easy kill.

  • Items: Chain of sorcery #2, Bloodied Ribbon (relic)
  • Spirits: Cliffside Hamlet Youth, Western Merchant.

Stockade (Part 1)

Fast travel: After Western Merchant, go to the Dryad Lake respite.

Get through the water area carefully. 1 hit won’t kill you, but you’ll need to use 2 heals to be able to take another hit. Purify the Hidden Test Subject in the third room (up) from the Aqueduct respite (you can sit on it if you need the heals). After the Test Subject (Pot), go down via the pit. The room is a lot faster if you’re holding right and do a dash to the right to avoid falling into the water.

Special tricks: If you want, you can equip the Western Merchant to do dash cancels

(S1: Umbral, Merchant, Headless). You can also do dash cancels with Floral and Seigrid, or just not do them at all.

  • Items: none
  • Spirits: Hidden Test Subject

Stockade (Part 2)

Go to the right via the water passage to the right. The elevator sucks, so pray to RNGesus. Two rooms before the ancient soul (look at the map), fall down the pit right at the entrance and grab the 30 stagnant blight. After Hoenir, you’ll be switching to the Twin Spires build, so do that before fast travelling.

Special tricks: For the Gerrod slam to get to the ancient souls, I line myself up just to the left of the Hoenir hook lantern.

  • Items: 30 stagnant blight, 1 ancient soul
  • Spirits: Hoenir
  • Enhancements: Umbral lv 4, Floral lv 2, Archer lv 2

Respites:

  • Execution grounds (before fighting Hoenir):
    • S1: Umbral, Eleine, Archer. S2: Umbral, Floral, Siegrid.
  • Execution grounds (before fighting Hoenir, Twin Spires build):
    • S1: Umbral, Silva, Gerrod. S2: Umbral, Floral, Siegrid.

800 Stagnant Blights on Your Way to the Bastion Gates

First skip of the run to get the 800 stagnant blights early.

Twin Spires

Two rooms before the elevator puzzle room, you can skip the arenas. You can skip the elevator puzzle in the room left to Monument of the Wind.

Elevator gauntlet strat: Stay on the right side. Use Floral Sorceress + Guardian Siegrid’s aerial attack to build SP. Once the axes get overwhelming, dash to the left and use Guardian Silva’s ultimate attack to clear the out. Should only need one or two ultimates before making it to the top.

Yet another skip in the two spires, skipping the timed gate puzzle. Two rooms after the elevator gauntlet.

Purify Ulv and get the additional prayer behind him

Update to include infinite hook range routing change.

Ruined Castle

Purify the Fallen Sentinel, collect the second blight relic (knife) to replace the ribbon, rest at the Maelstrom Ramparts, purify the One-Eyed Royal Aegis, fight Julius and purify the Castle Town Maiden (grab 100 furious blights with Julius’ Lance).

  • Skip the forced battle in the room just at the right of the respite by going up and using Ulv’s claws
  • In the next room, skip the right lever activation by dashing into claws (Silva isn’t needed).

Update for new route, sentinel, maiden, Aegis, Julius. Goes up the left side. From maiden, go right, hook up, go to upper left transition (silva + ulv skip), then use claw to go up to Maelstrom Ramparts. New route skips the second blight relic (Blightwreathed Blade) + that chain of sorcery (get the one by Hamlet Elder now).

Backtrack

(We should organize the backtrack a bit better so we go in order of the fast travel list, ending with the dark executioner.)

In no particular order, you have to purify the following spirits:

  • Forsaken Fellwyrm (Monument of the Wind)
  • Cliffside Hamlet Elder (Bridgehead)
  • Fungal Sorcerer (Dryad Lake)
  • Chief Guardian (Cathedral Cloister)
  • Dark Executioner (Execution Grounds)

Verboten Domain

Dark Chamber down to Lab B2 (Grab the mask and equip it).

From lab B2 go to:

  • Lever 1 (Optional: rest at Lab B3 for practice runs)
  • Lever 2, then purify the Incompetent Sinner
  • Back to Lab B2, go to the elevator room, kill Miriel and purify Faden
  • Go to Blighted Heart, then lab B2 and purify the Verboten Champion

Blighted Lord

If you managed to complete the run, cheers! That wasn’t easy.

Boss Guide and Spirits Loadouts

Dark Witch Eleine:

  • Umbral knight, Siegrid, Floral Sorceress

Gerrod, the Elder Warrior:

  • Umbral knight, Siegrid, Headless Defender
  • Umbral knight, Floral Sorceress, Eleine

Guardian Silva:

  • Umbral knight, Siegrid, Floral Sorceress
  • Umbral knight, Headless Defender, Eleine

Hoenir, Keeper of the Abyss:

  • Umbral knight, Siegrid, Floral Sorceress
  • Umbral knight, Hidden Test Subject, Eleine

Ulv, the mad knight:

  • Phase 1-2: Umbral knight Headless Defender, Siegrid
  • Phase 3: Umbral knight, Headless Defender, Floral Sorceress

Knight Captain Julius:

  • Umbral knight, Royal Aegis, Hidden Test Subject
  • Umbral knight, Siegrid, Floral Sorceress

Some extra notes on Julius (by Gawain): So, Julius has full plate mail armour. As you may have noticed, sometimes your attacks hit, but do no damage. I have found some consistencies with this: after using Hidden Test Subject, Julius is vulnerable for about 0.5 seconds (enough for a Royal Aegis + 4 Umbral Knight hits). In addition, Julius is always vulnerable while staggered. Finally, Julius will never be able to block more than 4 attacks in a row (that I have noticed. Ultimates count as a single attack). This means that you want to time your ultimates such that you get in ~3 Umbral Knight hits before unleashing the ultimate for a higher chance of it hitting. I’ve also noticed that Julius tends to block ultimates more (they may work on a different count?) so if he’s close to a stagger, save the ultimate for then. Lastly, his damage negation counter goes down very quickly. It resets after less than 2 seconds from my observations.

Miriel, the Beloved: (with Manisa’s Ring)

  • Umbral knight, Floral Sorceress, Fallen Archer
  • Fungal Sorcerer, Crypt Keeper, Siegrid

Blighted Lord: (with Manisa’s Ring)

  • Gerrod, Eleine, Fallen Archer
  • Floral Sorceress, Siegrid, Elder Crypt Keeper

To me, the hardest parts of this run are: (in the order of the run)

  • Hoenir, you need to learn the fight, check out Tachyon’s work on ending A.
  • The lab B2 Lever 1-2 Incompetent Sinner split without being hit
  • Miriel no hit
  • Blighted Lord no hit

Pickups

General note: there are 2 routes here. The first route is Tom’s which is the main route in this doc. I slightly modified the route by adding in a few more items that I pick up. These are labelled as optional (will be underlined) items. You do not need to get these. They take a bit of time to collect, but can make some end game fights easier.

Amulet Fragments

You don’t need to pick up all of these. The idea is to get 145 HP, so that with the music box, you can take 1 hit from the blighted lord’s spawns (144 dmg). This safety is part of my route. The fragments that I added/that take more than 1 second will be underlined.

  • In the second room of the game, smash the second to last set of three barrels.
  • In the witch’s thicket, in the room just after the white respite (dryad lake), before going to the downwards transition, jump across the pit and smash the pots.
  • In the room with the Floral Sorceress, go left and grab the amulet fragment in the elevator shaft.
  • Just after the spider skip, break the pots.
  • Just after the first Gerrod skip in the twin spires, it’s right there.
  • At the top left of the elevator gauntlet room in the twin spires.
  • As you fall into the Forsaken Fellwyrm room.
  • In the ruined castle, just before the respite before the One Eyed Royal Aegis, there is an amulet fragment on the far right. Requires hook.
  • Top right of Blighted Heart respite.

Blights

At a certain point (once you get the 800 blight), the spirit builds begin to have greater variance by player, so there is no longer an exact use for the blights. That being said, keep in mind that you need to be able to build SP fast enough for Miriel and Blighted Lord, so upgrading spirits for those is recommended.

This is because I’m not yet 100% sure on the routing.

  • 10 stagnant just past great hall respite -> floral lv 2
  • 30 stagnant in the long room between the dark chamber and execution grounds -> hidden test subject lv 3
  • 800 stagnant on the way to two spires -> floral lv 4, siegrid lv 4, archer lv 5, crypt keeper lv 4
  • 30 furious after fallen sentinel (0 sec) -> Gerrod lv 3/if you use an extra main skill in the Julius fight.
  • 30 furious at arena skip to the right of maelstrom ramparts (0 sec) -> Only if you didn’t already upgrade Gerrod to lv 3.
  • 800 furious before the Tower Alcove respite -> Eleine lv 5, Gerrod lv 5 (allows skipping of other furious blight pickups)
  • 100 furious after Castle Town Maiden -> Gerrod lv 4
  • 800 stagnant in the room with Faden’s body -> floral lv 5, crypt keeper lv 5, fungal sorcerer lv 5 (this is optional. Not yet tested if it will save time as you need to walk across Miriel’s arena a second time. Possibility of having Silva in the Miriel fight for the skip?)

Relics

  • Manisa’s ring (more spirit uses, 2).
  • Broken music box (optional, damage reduction, 2).
  • Fretia’s ring (parry, 0).
  • Bloodstained ribbon (increased XP gain, 1).
  • Blightwreathed Blade (increased XP gain, 2).
  • Eldred’s ring (optional, increased SP accumulation, 3) (just after julius, go left and open the chest).
  • Heretic’s Mask (less environment damage in the Verboten Domain, 2).

Chains of Sorcery

You’ll only want 1 chain so you can equip both blight relics at the same time. Only get all three if you’re doing the full optional route of getting both the music box and eldred’s ring for the fights. All chains of sorcery are optional. The hamlet youth one is the fastest one, and even that one takes ~3 seconds.

  • Far right of fallen archer room.
  • Just after Hamlet Youth (if done after Silva).
  • Just before Hamlet Elder (to the left of the room transition that Hamlet Elder is in).

Priestess’ Wishes

  • Priestess’ wish after fallen archer fight.
  • Priestess’ wish after Ulv.
  • Priestess’ wish at Tower Alcove respite.

Blights needed to enhance spirits:

  • 0 -> level 1 (never need to upgrade from lv 0 to lv 1).
  • 10 -> level 2.
  • 30 -> level 3.
  • 90 -> level 4.
  • 270 -> level 5.
  • 800 -> level 6 (not done in this run).
