Understanding Iris Guide

Everyone, do not buy Iris yet. There’s a big fundamental flaw with her buff logic and until devs fix this, I recommend against investing in her.

It was earlier reported by another player that Iris’s buff is not multiplied by ruin’s buff. I did many tests, which confirmed this.

TLDR

Iris’s buff is not being multiplied by ruin’s/gildong’s buff which makes her buff technically worse than soba’s in real usage. Here’s a very simple test I conducted to show that unless devs fix this, Iris’s buff is pretty crappy.

I did a basic test using only ruin and valentine, with vs. without iris.

• A) Without iris, no ruin’s buff: 59.3r
• B) With iris, no ruin’s buff: 323r (5.4x of case A)

• C) Without iris, with ruin’s buff: 17.4s
• D) With Iris, with ruin’s buff: 19.6s (1.12x of case C)

As you can see, we went from a supposed 5.4x buffer to just 1.12x buff. If Iris’s stats were added to valentine before being multiplied by ruin’s buff, we should see case D giving the same 5.4x gain on case C. Devs, if you see this please fix this; otherwise, Iris’s buff is very underwhelming.

From further testing, I can conclude that Iris’s buff is being multiplied by passive buffs and mael’s buff but not ruin’s buff.

The formula is thus:

• Dealer’s total ATK = Dealer’s ATK x mael’s buff x ruin’s buff + Iris’s ATK x Iris’s passive multiplier x mael’s buff

Dealer’s ATK can be found in the hero’s stat page, which is inclusive of basically all multipliers including passive buffers.

The additive nature is fine as long as the sum is then multiplied by ruin’s buff, like everything else in the game including violet’s summons. There’s just no reason to expect Iris’s sheep to not be amplified by ruin’s buff when violet’s summons do.

• (A+B) x ruin’s buff —> this is fine
• (A x ruin’s buff) + B —> this is not fine

Additional tests with mael. A simple straight test to show that even soba is better than Iris in the real test with ruin’s buff and mael’s buff.

Further testing with just soba, mael, val vs. Iris, mael, Val shows that Iris is better than soba in this case. Most likely Iris’s buff is being multiplied by mael’s buff, which means only ruin’s buff is not being multiplied to Iris’s buff.
