QoL Upgrades Guide
I am going to cover only QoL upgrades, there are more upgrades but they are mostly for speeding up certain aspects of the game, and it’s up to you which ones you might want to get. My personal strat is to get rid of the things that annoy me and get the stuff that helps me and only then I will think about the rest.
These are just my opinions, I have tried to approach them from different viewpoints and explain my logic to the extent that I could. I suggest you read through and see what you need based on that.
Increase offline farm by 50%. 10k AM. offline gains seem to be miniscule, increasing them by half, for 10k AM is not worth it.
Auto destroy main game special meteorite 7,5k AM. Green meteorite spawns every 15min, destroying it yields a buff, and 5 AM, whether you clicked on it or you using auto destroy, up to a cap of 1k AM until your next BH. If you don’t want to click on it, investing into it early will pay for itself over the course of 8 bh’s, maybe a bit more, since earlier ones don’t take 2 days necessary to exhaust the cap. A nice starter if you don’t want to click on it.
Autoprogression QoL. 5k. It will stop autoprogression and switch to previous planet area 8 if you die 5 times in the same area. Generally I don’t find it of much use for two simple reasons. You will pick an area you want to farm in far better than it ever could, whether you’re farming for kills or mech parts. And if you are progressing with Enemy reduction, it will not turn that off, making your farm quite suboptimal, so player input is still better. I would skip it.
Reduce death/progression time by 5 seconds. 7,5k AM. Helps a lot during earlier zones, as there are very few enemies and you have to pass through many zones. Later on with the introduction of colonies it’s easier to skip the big chunk of early levels but this upgrade still feels useful, both reducing the waiting time between farming runs (not that much in the grand scheme of things) and when you’re progressing (killing 40 enemies in seconds and moving on, so it seems more impactful here). It will always be helpful, it’s hard to say how much time it saves, at least it does something.
Autoequip items. 5k AM. Oh boy, where do i begin with this one. Don’t get fooled by the cheap price. The amount of inventory slots you will have to purchase will haunt you like it does me. Is it useful? Hell yeah, it is. It’s gonna save you millions of clicks over the lifetime and items give a huge bonus to a lot of stats. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t take it at some point.
Automatically play the meteorite minigame. 15k. Costly. gives only 25% of your high score, so you have to do a few runs manually after upgrading the minigame stats for it to take effect. It does have one benefit even to those who are playing the minigame actively. Offline gains. They might not be all that high, but it’s something. And for those that are idling, it’s a godsent.
Automatically loot prisoners. 15k. For someone who specifically wanted to buy it, I can say that it’s not worth the cost. It’s not that hard to click a few bubbles here and there even if you’re coming back to the game after some time. And once they reach a certain point, they aggregate into a single bubble, which makes them even easier to collect if you’ve been lazing about or you are getting them so fast. The only thing it provides is the increase in citizen generation between those moments where you haven’t picked them up, but is that worth 15k? There is one more thing it might do for you. IF you have OCD like me and hate seeing those bubbles, that’s the only reason I would recommend getting it for.
Automatically shoot click shots. 15k AM. I do 6 click shots every click, double that during the clone ship. Enemies got a ton of shields, even with 3x damage to shields achievement, these shots seem to be useless.
Mine a mineral slot 10 times per second. 15k. I don’t see much use to it. You don’t get anything out of the minigame until hard, and even then, a lot of players that reached it say that the main game ugprades from this minigame are not worth it. And at bh9 you will get a 1 cost bh perk that will use the pickaxe strength for autominers, so if you want a boost the minigame i think it’s safer to use that, since you can turn it off the next bh. You won’t get the AM back for this upgrade.
Notable mentions
Mech drop 10% for 2,5k AM is very cheap and is going to cut all mech pity kill counts by 10% and increase the chances of the drop by the same amount. Next upgrade is 5k so you might think whether you need it or not, but 2,5k was so worth it.
25% Light Years increase per level, first one costs 10k and offers x1.25 multiplier to all LY. Many people recommend it. I personally didn’t take it cause I don’t mind things being a bit slower if that means I can get rid of some annoyance instead.
