Grace – Ultimate Beginners Guide (with Cheats)

New Player Guide with Tips & Tricks

Game Mechanics

Safe Rooms

Safe rooms are what the player must reach before the timer ends. The safe room has 99% safety, missing its 1% due to how some entities can kill you in there, for example Sorrow(?) and Dozer.

If the player opens the door too early when Carnation has spawned and does not respond quickly enough, they can manage to wipe out themselves or their squadmates from the run.

Trimping

Trimping allows the player to skip multiple rooms if they have built up enough speed. Trimping will send the player sky-high into the air, only being stopped by the invisible ceiling.

Trimping is achieved when sliding, then releasing the sprint button before quickly performing a timed jump onto a ledge/edge. If this is done correctly, you will know you’ve succeeded when you skip over a wall or hit the ceiling.

Safe Zones

Safe zones will protect you mainly from Carnation and Slugfish, although they do not have 100% protection against Dozer, the Goatman, and Sorrow.

Custom Lobbies

Custom lobbies can be found in the middle when you first join the game. The appearance is usually a large banner or a ‘tab’ that displays “Create” (to create a custom lobby). You can join custom lobbies through the tab as well.

Lobby Creation Settings: Functions are self-explanatory.

Key Star (Unofficial Name)

The Key Star is located near the edge of the water. Here, you can buy cosmetics using Keys. To see what cosmetics you can get, see the Cosmetics List.

Spawn Vaults

Spawn vaults are located on the walls of the lobby. Not much explanation is needed, but the server sizes range from 1-8. They’ll close after 15 seconds of someone joining them. After the timer ends, the door will close, lock shut, and the players inside will drop into Purgatory.

The trapdoor opens beneath the players, leading into a pit, which then transitions into the tutorial of Grace.

Lever Rooms

Lever rooms are encountered randomly within Grace. They consist primarily of three levers and an unbreakable steel door in the middle. To open the door, a player must make contact with all three levers.

Levers

Levers can be found within Lever Rooms and at the start of the game. To switch them, the player must simply touch them.

Custom Lobby Commands / Cheats

Do note that these commands were meant for testing, which is why there isn’t a ‘.heed’ command. These will be added later. Please note that you can only trigger these commands in the game, not in the lobby.

  • .test – Sends you to the testing branch of the game.
  • .main – Sends you back to the main branch of the game.
  • .panic – Resets or starts the timer.
  • .panicspeed [number] – Either makes the timer tick slower or faster.
  • .godmode – Self-explanatory (Warning: This command is not guaranteed to work in some cases).
  • .slight – Will spawn the entity Slight [1] room behind (Will only spawn if possible).
  • .sorrow – Spawns the entity Sorrow.
  • .goatman – Spawns the Goatman (Fun Fact: Multiple Goatmans can be spawned, which probably applies to the other entities as well).
  • .carnation – Spawns the entity Carnation.
  • .settime – Allows you to set whatever time you want it to be on the timer.
  • .slugfish – Spawns the entity Slugfish.

How to Deal with Enemies / Entities

Grace

There is little to no information to put here. Grace is the entity or figure – the being that you meet every time you die. Grace may not be the official name. I think this being is literally just God. The way the being loves us no matter what and has put us on a path to them.

Carnation

The screen will flash with pink static, and pink tentacles will start to move along the borders of your screen. Keep running forward, opening doors until you find a hiding place. Once Carnation passes, you may leave the spot. If you are caught in Carnation’s path, it will result in instant death.

Slight

Slight is an eye that spawns after the second saferoom. When Slight spawns, it will illuminate the room with a blue light. Do not look at it. When looking at Slight, you will lose half of your health, and half of your screen will become white.

Do note that Slight is extremely fast, so if you look at it for just a second, make sure you have lightning-fast reflexes.

Slugfish

The screen will flash with white static, and white tentacles will start to move along the borders of your screen. Quickly hug the sides of the walls, as Slugfish only gives you less than three seconds to react. If you fail to get out of the way, you will quickly be killed. It is a dangerous combo with entities like Sorrow and Dozer.

Elkman

The Elkman is a tall, black figure who is leaning over. It will randomly spawn in a random room, typically guarding the next door. As soon as you make line of sight with it, it will begin to shake, with its head glowing white. Your screen will start to fill up with static, and if the prolonged exposure continues, the player will succumb to its effects. To avoid this demise, the player must quickly break line of sight, and it will go away.

Heed

Heed is the opposite of Slight, being a vertical eye instead of a horizontal one. Heed will illuminate the room with a blaring red light, as well as a deep, low humming sound. To counter Heed, you must stare at it, unlike Slight. Basically, you’re heeding it.

Do note that Heed is extremely fast, so if you look away for just a second, make sure you have lightning-fast reflexes.

Sorrow

Sorrow is a shower of blood that spawns quickly with a noticeable audio cue. It also turns the map into a blood-red atmospheric color. To counter Sorrow, you must place yourself under something, such as doorframes, blocks, or other general objects. You only have a few seconds to get into cover, as when the violent shaking ends, any player who is not under something will wither away.

Sorrow works dangerously in combination with some other effects, such as Slugfish.

Dozer

Dozer is a yellow smiley face. The appearance of Dozer resembles a sun-like shape with a smile drawn onto it. Dozer will spawn on the player’s screen, and you only have a few seconds to crouch and stop moving. If the player does not follow this rule when Dozer opens its eyes, the player will quickly die.

Dozer will delay Carnation for a few seconds. Dozer can be dangerous in combination with other effects.

Awakened Dozer

Will you wake up tomorrow?

The Goatman

The Goatman is the main threat that spawns whenever the Saferoom door is opened or when the timer ends. When Goatman spawns, the screen will become tinted black, red, and orange. A goat-like roar will also be heard.

The Goatman will quickly rush the player from ANY direction. His direction will be highlighted by a red wall, accompanied by the Goatman’s screaming.

If you let the Goatman reach you, you will instantly die. However, you can prevent this by using the Flashlight and flashing him (click to flash). This will delay your demise until you reach the Saferoom.

The Goatman quickly approaches from the distance.

Items

Flashlight

The flashlight is an item located in the first slot of the player’s inventory. It lights up a specific distance but does not illuminate the surrounding area like the Lantern does.

If you press left click while using the flashlight, you can perform a flash with it, which will deflect the Goatman.

Lantern

The Lantern has no extra features. It illuminates the surrounding area. The Lantern takes up the second slot.

Currency

Keys

Keys can be used to buy cosmetics at the Key Star, which is located near the edge of the water. For information about cosmetics, see the Cosmetics list. For information about the Key Star, see the Key Star card.

Bricks (Future Currency / Not in Use)

Bricks are supposed to be used to buy items that can assist players during their runs. Not much is known about this feature yet.

Pages

Carnation’s Page

Run onwards, you’ll find a spot.

Tampered Doors’ Page

They’re jammed, kick them open.

Slight’s Page

Don’t stare.

Elkman’s Page

Peek, then hide behind a wall.

Slugfish’s Page

Get out of his way.

Heed’s Page

Do stare.

Dozer’s Page

Stay down, don’t move a muscle.

By this, it means to not touch any of the movement keys. If you’re in the air, simply press the crouch button and hold still.

Sorrow’s Page

The drops wither the soul. Go under something. Doorframes count.
