Comprehensive Look at Broom Stats (Keepers)
By Quinz.
I’ve tested various brooms with the Keeper to find out exactly which broom stats have an affect on the Keeper and how much of a difference they make.
TLDR
Broom stats relevant for Keepers
- Max Speed: Affects strafe, up/down and forward/backward speeds. The differences may be minimal, but it does feel quite impactful when playing.
- Acceleration: Affects how fast you get to top speed when strafing. Combine with high Max Speed for fast and smooth strafing.
- Maneuver Speed: Affects dive speed. Very good if you use dive a lot. If you think the dive feels useless, make sure you tried a broom with max Maneuver Speed.
- Boost Efficiency: Affects how long your boost lasts when using the Boost Strafe or Freeflight Unlocked skills. Not really that useful with Boost Strafe since you’ll very rarely run out of boost when just strafing between hoops. There’s usually time to recover it all between use. Might be more useful with Freeflight Unlocked.
- Max HP: Affects how much HP you have, and thus how many hits you can take before going down. Good if you want extra protection against Beaters.
- HP Regen: Affects how fast you regenerate HP after being hit. Good if you want extra protection against Beaters.
- Stun Duration: Affects how long you’re stunned after being hit (higher is better). Good for quicker recovery after getting hit.
Do any stats affect Keepers’ Kick skill?
- Short answer, no.
My personal broom recommendations (at max broom level)
- Nimbus: A well balanced option for the Keeper. It has 6 Max Spd., 6 Accel. and 6 Maneuver Spd., so it’s great for defense. It also has 6 Boost Effic. which is a plus if you’re using Boost Strafe or Freeflight Unlocked.
- Swiftstick: If you want to have more impactful diving, use this broom. It will however lack in strafing speed, so you’ll have to try it out for yourself and decide what you want to sacrifice.
- Shooting Star/Firebolt: These have great Max Spd. and Accel., but fall short on Maneuver Spd. They’re good if you don’t use the dive much.
They also have high Max HP (slightly higher on Firebolt), HP Regen (only high on Shooting Star) and Stun Duration, so they’re great for protection against Beaters if that’s something that often bothers you.
Numbers
How were the tests performed?
I recorded myself strafing and diving between the hoops. In the recording I moved frame by frame to find out how long it took between each mark, as accurately as I could.
With the strafe, I always counted from the middle of one hoop to the middle of the other. With the dive, I counted from the point when the Keeper is just about to touch the outline of the first hoop to the point where the whole Keeper is inside the next hoop.
This gave more accurate results than counting from middle to middle. It may be because I’m using mouse and keyboard.
Note that the results are likely not 100% accurate since all movement is done manually and could always vary slightly. It should give an idea of what matters in terms of stats though.
It’s also worth noting that the dive doesn’t always stretch all the way to the middle of the hoop, it depends on your starting point and maybe also your diving speed. For me, the dive animation is also sometimes cancelled before I reach the next hoop for some reason.
Now, to the numbers!
In the first test we’ll focus on Max Speed, Acceleration and Maneuver Speed to determine if and how they affect the Keeper’s movement. The Boost Efficiency stat only has an effect when using Boost Strafe or Freeflight Unlocked, which we’ll take a look at later.

Let’s break it down!
- Acceleration: We can see that a higher stat doesn’t always result in faster strafe or dive. For example, Swiftstick has one less Accel. (6) than Shooting Star (7) but clocked in at slightly faster speeds.
- Max Speed: Not always faster when higher, which you can see by again comparing Swiftstick (3) and Shooting Star (6).
- Maneuver Speed: For strafe speed, this stat doesn’t always result in faster speeds, which you can see by comparing Shooting Star (1) and Comet (3). However, we can see that the dive speeds are always faster when Maneuver Spd. is higher.
So what’s the conclusion?
It’s pretty safe to say that Maneuver Spd. affects dive speed. However, when it comes to strafe speed it gets tricker. My best guess is that both Max Spd. and Accel. has an affect on the overall strafe speed, and maybe Maneuver Spd. affects it too.
Note: Accel. also affects how fast your boost is initiated on other classes. Boost Strafe and Freeflight Unlocked don’t work like that.
What about the Kick, are there any stats that effect it?
To verify this, I performed Kicks and Power Kicks with the same six brooms above. I started counting from animation start to the point when the Kick skill was greyed out, and counted cooldown from that point until the Kick was available again.
The speeds were the same on all brooms for both animation and cooldown.
- Kick Cooldown: 1.51s
- Power Kick Cooldown: .51s
- Kick Animation: 0.58s
- Power Kick Animation: 2.5s
Let’s have a look at one last stat; Boost Efficiency!
This stat affects how long your boost lasts when using Boost Strafe or Flyng Unlocked.
- Swiftstick Lvl 5 – Boost Effic. 6
- Boost Duration: 3.43s
- Shooting Star Lvl 1 – Boost Effic. 2
- Boost Duration: 2.26s
- Comet Lvl 1 – Boost Effic. 1
- Boost Duration: 2.08s
