Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel – Guide to Farming Gold

How to Farm Gold Coins on Easy / Normal Difficulty

By Niflheim.

Here is how I made 700 Gold Coins in a normal 15 min run:

  • Pick Sorc with 10% xp Staff as Class, skill Draining Touch (Gold Drop Rate) + 2x Mastery of Fate (for +2 Banishes and +6 Rerolls) and Divination (Experience Gain).
  • Wisdom on Freya (Pickup Range).
  • Greed and Rigged Lottery on Loki (Gold Drop Rate + Gold Skill).
  • Far Sight and Yule Father on Odin (Experience Gain + Double Skill Reward), as well as Defiant for +1 Blasphemy to ban Thor.
  • DO NOT skill any passives / skills that aren’t in the pool by nature, therefore shortening the pool of possible rolls for each God. Skills that are already in the skill pool will have the tag “Evolve” in the Skill Shop.
  • Pick all 5 mods to increase Resource Bonuses by 30% each.

Once the run starts, fish for the Gold/Level passive on Freya immediately, then get Divination on Sorcerer (XP) and 17% XP buff on Freya after that. Use Banishes and Rerolls to shorten the pools for Freya and Sorcerer. Ban Thor.

Next, go for the Pickup Range increases on Freya and Sorcerer. Try to get Rigged Lottery on Loki whenever he appears. You can also use the Sorcerer Passive that will absorb all XP Gems when Eldritch is being triggered. More levels = more gold per level.

Additionally: Once you have 5 autocast skills equipped, you will shorten the pool again, since you will only get to choose from already equipped autocasts after that point. So fishing for Pickup Range + Rigged Lottery can be done once you have some DPS in place, no worries. Focus on getting one Class Skill to Level 4.

Try to run the map in a circular motion from outside to inside and pop all Barrels for possible extra Gold (do this while completing Objectives and use Food Icons to see where you’ve already been). Complete the “hardest” Objectives on Normal difficulty for more gold.

Damage Multiplicators:

  1. 5% Dmg and 25% Boss Dmg Odin.
  2. Crit Chance with God Skill Dmg Odin.
  3. All Skill Dmg Sorc.
  4. Class Skill Dmg Freya.

General Tips

  • Loot boxes can be saved to use when needed for tough encounters. I save them stacked in one spot and usually fight near that area, picking one up during threatening situations. I skip over EXP ones generally and either get upgrades or, more often, a potion buff.
  • You can only get 2 active class skills and 3 active god skills: I always succeed when I take the class skill that has axes spawn around you and the spin-to-win sword bleed move. For god skills, maxing out the 120-degree ability from the gold god is really good. Otherwise, everything else is pretty good. However, as a challenge, I guess you can even skip out on active god skills. You don’t need them.
  • The level cap is 25. You can determine what your build will be in advance and aggressively use rolls to acquire it. Important passives from Berserker are reset cooldown and crit chance, but I also always pick up attack range and skip others. Important passives from Lightning God are crit chance, but I also pick up lightning attacks, stun, and skill damage. Important passives from Gold God are possibly echo and class skill damage increase.
  • Class specialization doesn’t really matter. Usually I go cooldown or regen. (With cooldown, spell echo is pretty cool). (With regen, the Berserker life on crit and Gold God regen aura are pretty good).
  • For the boss, you don’t need to dash to avoid his jump move. You can run towards him to avoid it. Priority targets are rangers and then minibosses. (Stun on axe is really efficient at killing minibosses quickly).
