JudgeSim – Bars and Dice Mechanics Guide

Quick Guide to Bars and Dice Mechanics

Assassination Bar

What makes the assassination bar go up?

In this game, the assassination bar increases if you don’t follow the instructions in threat letters. You can choose to ignore them, but there might be consequences.

Can judges be assassinated or threatened in the game?

Yes, even important characters like judges can be threatened.

Can I lower the assassination bar if it gets too high?

You can lower the bar by asking the police for protection. Remember that you can’t use this option too often. After using it once, you’ll need to wait before you can use it again.

Arrest Bar

Why does the arrest bar go up?

The arrest bar increases when you make incorrect choices in cases with a Law Book.

How do I know what’s the wrong choice?

Check the charges in the Case File. Use the Law Book to find the right penalties for those charges. Remember that things like criminal records, mental health, and age can change the sentence.

What if I forget the rules about things like tougher sentences, mental health, death penalty, or people over 50?

The left side of the Law Book shows what the laws require.

Can I give a different sentence than what’s in the Law Book?

Yes, but it will make your arrest bar go up.

Why can a judge be arrested?

Judges must follow the law like everyone else. Going against the law has consequences. In this game, you’re a new judge in a corrupt country. The Ministry of Justice checks if your decisions are correct and watches over you.

Dice

How do the dice work?

After each case, dice are rolled. Your arrest and assassination bars affect how likely you are to roll a 12. If two dice next to each other add up to 12, you lose the game.

I lost but my bars weren’t full. Why?

You can still roll a 12 even if your bars aren’t full. It’s based on chance, which keeps you on your toes and makes you want to keep your bars low.

Can you take out the dice?

We can’t remove the dice. Some players like them, some don’t. They fit the game’s theme of an uncertain world. Taking them out would mean changing the whole game. We want you to make choices, but with some risk involved.

Happy gaming!
