Star of the City (Row 1)
Cane Office
(Far Right)
In this fight, enemies will match your actions. Use abnormality pages and EGOs to your advantage. Focus on defeating one enemy at a time, starting with Martina or Bada. You don’t need to clash with every attack. Ignore some weaker moves and focus on blocking stronger ones.
This fight gives you new pages:
- Absorb Impact: Good for blocking and gaining charge.
- A Golden Opportunity: Can give a lot of charge.
- Energy Conversion: Gives light and draw, but needs 4 charge.
For Martina, use boosted Uncanny Strikes often.
For Nemo, attack directly.
Road Home/Scaredy Cat
Defeat Road Home by winning clashes against her 4-4 die twice. Then focus on Scaredy Cat. When Road Home is staggered, attack her with everything. Defend against Scaredy Cat’s ranged attacks if needed.
Snow Queen
This is a tough fight. Use three Emmas and one librarian with blunt damage. Try to defeat one librarian by the end of scene 3. Counters are helpful. It’s okay if Roland dies after that.
Liu Association Section 2
(Middle Right)
Focus on 1-2 enemies not using Sturdy Defense. Ignore some weaker attacks. You get three useful pages from this fight: Frontal Assault, Sturdy Defense, and Emotional Turbulence. The key pages have Fervor, which is a good passive ability.
Liu Association Section 2, 2
Similar to the previous fight, but with three stronger enemies. Focus on Lowell when he uses Forming Storm. You get Gale Kick (good for pierce decks) and Iron Wall (boosts defense) from this fight.
Church of Gears
Use Puffy Brume on everyone. Block Vapour’s attacks. In the second part, focus on blocking Argalia’s Preludio attack. Guidance of the Gears and Vapour are the most useful pages from this fight.
Mountain of Smiling Bodies
Use blunt attacks. Focus on the main enemy and ignore the smaller ones. Smoke and health abilities are helpful.
The Thumb
(Far Left)
The enemies often use ranged attacks without ammo, making them weak. Their melee attacks aren’t very strong either. You get unique pages that build up ammo, then use Shock Round to attack. Use Focus Fire if you have too much ammo.
The Thumb II
Similar to the previous fight, but with an extra wave including Boris. Ignore Boris and focus on the others. You get Le Regole (a good attack page) and Boris (a strong character page) from this fight.
Burrowing Heaven
Use defensive decks. Kill enemies quickly to avoid taking damage from thorns. Use Sturdy Defense to stagger the thorns.
General Receptions
Dong-hwan gives you some basic attack pages and a strong character page. Allen and the Night Awls are very powerful for this stage, especially with pierce attacks. Udjats provide a good exclusive page and Jamadhar.
Star of the City (Row 2)
R Corp
(Far Right)
The first wave can be difficult due to many Mind Whips. To deal with this, use mind haulers, block dice, or blunt resistance. If you can beat the first act, you should be able to handle the next two, which are similar with strong blunt dice. It’s recommended to use haulers on most librarians. Udjats are effective against this enemy, as they resist blunt damage twice and can heal stagger damage easily.
These key pages focus on keeping charge instead of using it. Most aren’t very good. Myo is strong with enough haste, and Nikolai is one of the best key pages, giving a 50% damage/stagger increase against an enemy and team-wide power. Reindeer Treatment can give 2 strength in long fights if you’ve taken a lot of damage. Graze the Grass is good for restoring light and should replace Energy Cycle in charge decks. Rapid Gashes isn’t very good but might be worth watching. The other pages are either not worth using or only slightly different from other pages.
There’s a specific deck for Nikolai.
The Index
(Far Left)
The first act is similar to the Urban Nightmare version, with some new pages. It should be easy since they only have one speed die. Use it to gain emotion levels. The second act is harder because proselytes have two speed dice and proxies can use their strongest pages if left alone too long. Focus on defeating Gloria, who has a mass attack, or Esther, who unlocks a scene earlier.
The rewards are good. Multi-slash is very useful for managing resources, giving both draw and light restoration. It’s good for singleton decks. Unlock gives the same benefit without needing singleton, but takes 2 turns to reach the same point. It’s useful in longer fights. Somber Procuration is a strong attack page that only uses pierce damage. All three proxies start with four light, but Esther has Speed III, making him the most useful. Gloria has one of the few non-EGO masses at this level. You might prefer to use Blade Unlocked and possibly Easygoing Breather as passive abilities. If you use the proxies as key pages, they work best with singleton decks.
Price of Silence
The shades copy your stats in order, starting from Hokma. You can use this to your advantage. Choose a weak enemy for Hokma, then use whatever Hokma is strong against for everyone else. Use the auto-slot button, remove Silence from anyone who has it, start combat, and repeat 13 times.
Ozma
This can be tricky. Choose someone who can handle the pages you’ll face to be marked. When the Jacks appear, have all your librarians attack them for one scene. The screen will flash when someone hits the real Jack. Then, have the marked librarian attack the real Jack for two scenes, and prepare for a mass attack. Try to defeat Ozma in one cycle, but you can repeat the process if needed.
Blue Star
You only need to defeat six cultists to win. Staggered characters will damage the shrine. Use pages that focus on one damage type, including those with large single dice like Crack of Dawn or Prod the Weakness. Try to clash with cultists weak to those types. Puffy Brume and mind hauler are very useful here, as are evade abilities.
The Red Mist
(Middle Left)
Treat this more like an abnormality fight than a normal one. Try to prevent her from dealing damage. Use protection pages like Scattering Slash and Fence to limit her resources. Winning clashes also stops her from dealing damage. You can do this by stacking power abilities or by weakening her with pages like Forceful Gesture or Loss of Senses. Binah is very effective against her. Remember you have three floors, so prepare backup teams. Great Split: Horizontal will likely be the biggest challenge. You can counter this by using slash-resistant key pages or by raising her emotion level to 5 before the phase change.
The Red Mist is a good key page. Use it with Myo’s Prowess to win most clashes. Level Slash isn’t very useful. Onrush isn’t necessary but can be helpful. Smoke makes her conditional damage effects easier to trigger.
Liu Association Section 1
(Middle Right)
Use frontal block dice or pages that can clash well with 2-dice attacks, like Prod the Weakness. Try to focus on a few fixers at a time and ignore the rest, similar to Section 2.
Xiao will try to use Raging Storm: Love if possible. Either ignore it if you can survive it, or stagger her quickly. Chun and Miris will use Flaming Dragon Fist often. Direct these attacks to characters with blunt resistance if possible. This fight is slightly harder than act 2 of Section 2.
You get more Fervor pages to use, and Chun is a decent key page. Fiery Waltz is a 3-cost page with a consistent evade roll. Fervid Emotions is usually not worth using due to its cost, but it’s very strong if you can lower the cost. Burning Flash is a strong 2-cost page when its effect activates. It works well with Singular Strike, so consider using it with Kim.
Row 2 Clean-Up
Servant of Wrath
Use blunt attacks to defeat the dolls quickly, or the Servant of Wrath will use a troublesome mass attack. Redirect attacks that might hit her, and when all canes are gone, don’t let the Hermit hit her. You can’t deal the final blow yourself. Being faster than the servant is helpful.
Punishing Bird
Don’t use pages with offensive counters. Ignore the blackbirds’ blocking pages, but clash with their other pages as needed. Don’t attack Punishing Bird until you’re ready to use the locks. Blunt resistance, damage reduction (like from Grit), and stagger recovery (like from Mirage or mind hauler) can help. Automated Movements is useful, as it only uses blunt damage and has an evade counter. Use evades or slower attacks with the librarian you want to use a lock with.
Judgement Bird
You can do this fight later if you’re not ready. Put all the Sin on one librarian, preferably Binah because she’s tough. Judgement Bird will use Ceaseless Judgement before Judgement, so try not to have many librarians with Sin. Defeat the birds quickly, and redirect their attacks to your toughest librarian if you can’t win. Redirect Judgement away from its target. Judgement Bird can use it multiple times in one scene if there are two valid targets. After redirecting a few times, you should be able to stagger and defeat him.
Another strategy: Give Binah several Full Stop passives, use Degraded Pillar and Degraded Fairy on Judgement Bird, and have everyone else use weak pages with many dice, like Stay Calm and Opportunity Spotted. Use Mei’s passive if you’re worried about staggering. Judgement Bird will trigger fairy damage each time his counter is rolled, causing significant damage to himself within two scenes.
