Lootun – Battlemage Tank (Build & Tips)

Build Guide for Battlemage Tank

A BM tank brings a lot of defense to the team. Gearing is very versatile and can be built for a purpose, such as stun avoidance, dodge, barrier, etc.

I built this BM tank as a hybrid health/barrier meat shield, built to take hits and heal through it. They have much more raw effective health pool than a warden or renegade tank.

Nature’s Blessing will heal your health to almost full every 5.8s. Frost Strike, Arcane Cloak, and the BM passive will heal your barrier. The BM passive is an instant heal to your barrier, provided you survive the attack.

I’ve skipped getting defiance on chest/gem as nothing hits that hard, but it’s a good option if you’re getting chunked. Once you’re comfortably farming content, you can swap the gem to provide more weapon element debuffs.

A lot of gear is interchangeable and there are several pieces that can provide %barrier instead of %health if you find yourself running low. Barrier Blade can also be used for barrier regen, but it is a bit slower.

Frost Strike provides team utility in barrier gain. Team members will gain barrier above their max barrier, up to 50% of their health pool.

Frostbolt can alternatively be used with the Book of Horrors for slowing down boss attacks. Remember to swap a passive to Taunt if you do so.

There are no meaningful offensive cooldowns, so Arcane Torrent is taken for a miniscule increase in DPS.

Gem priorities are attack speed > health = barrier > defensive stat.

Adjusted shield + bracers, and moved points into flask effect. Changes should make damage taken less spiky. Added in-battle stats and solo, no flask heroic Highlord run.
