Build Guide for Mage Support
Archmage/Vizier are great as a support in raids. They can apply up to 4 ailments, curses, and many debuffs. I believe Archmage has a slight edge over Vizier as it has a unique debuff in Elemental Weakness.
Malediction is used as it is the only way to apply curses right now. Curse of frailty and vulnerability make the boss take more damage, while slowness helps survivability. Galvanize is enchanted on there for the Lightning Infusion buff from Chain Lightning so you can apply more debuffs faster. Remember to spec for it! The other weapon enchants can be switched to the element of your other DPS or just to provide more debuffs for Helm of Command.
Alchemists Sash provides more debuffs and provides better damage/survivability depending on the potions applied to your team and the boss. It is also extra ailment effect that isn’t typically found on the belt slot.
Chromatic Stone is another debuff and damage multiplier for your elemental DPS.
The rest of the gear is aimed at stacking as much ailment% as possible to get big shocks and chills.
Barb/Assassin relic is used to stack Toxic Tunic quickly as well as provide more ailment stacks for other DPS’s skills like Rend or Pin Down.
The mastery gem for Stasis is used to have as many stacks at all times.
- Thunderbolt is used as it provides a unique debuff of -crit defense. It also has 100% to shock. All of this makes your team do more damage and saves you a point on the Archmage/Vizier tree.
- Frostbolt can be used as a more defensive option as it chills and has a -attack speed debuff. Remember to swap enchants/passives if you do.
- Frost Nova is also an option instead of Stasis. It provides a lot of extra damage to the boss even though their action isn’t stopped.
- Nature’s Blessing is used as it provides another 10% ailment effect.
Having a properly geared mage support can almost double your raid DPS than without.
