Alliance Clash Grouping Explained
Alliance level have nothing to do with it. The primary factor is total army strength, the secondary factor is past war performance.
Rank doesn’t have any direct effect to match making. However, rank is affected by “past war performance”, so rank and matchmaking have some common cause.
However, the primary factor is still just total army strength. Barring some oddities that might be due to recent membership changes, I’ve found that the alliances in a war tend to be within 5% of each other in that.
So in a way, more troop power isn’t actually better, what you need is effective troop power (i.e. minimize number of people who don’t participate. Make sure everyone buys diesel daily and boost at least 350 per day etc).
If you want to really be competitive in war, everyone must buy 500 diesel daily, which there are actually 8 chances per week (daily reset and a rest after heli ends).
That is a minimal of 4000 diesel per week, with more from either roulette or cash purchase. So the actual optimal amount to use is well higher, I usually use around 1000.
Past war performance is irrelevant, as alliance ranking on global leaderboard is. Troops power is all that matters. So it is the “potential” which groups you together, while (player activity,) strategy and diesel are the deciding factors about how you can perform on that map.
