Guide to Author Kill Build
This build is meant for those trying to get the author kill achievement right now. I found this build to be extremely consistent, getting an author kill every time I try it without causing too much lag.
This strategy might not work for you if you have too little meta progression.
TLDR: look at the picture below and prioritize star arrow levels
Core build
Charge mode 0 star, track 0 star, shining star arrow 2 star, duet 2 star, lightning dash 0 star.
“Optimal” build see in the picture. (careful with the order of spells, changing the order can change the cost and mess up the spell tracking).
Relics
Do not take defensive relics unless you have no better options. To win against the author you need to play risky. Taking gold generating relics or mana relics is fine too.
Spell choice and reforge
You want to build up spells by taking as many spell rooms as possible especially early on. Aim to find many common spells until you have enough to roll for 2 2 star commons. Only reroll once you have enough spells/your build feels weak. Try not to reroll spells that you could need later, even if you can’t use them yet.
Shops
Don’t take shops unless you can buy all spells with leftover gold for rerolls. Avoid wand purchases.
Rooms
Do not take many hp rooms unless you paid for blood relics already. spells > relics > coins (unless you are super broke) > shops > hp rooms > fountains.
Spell bans
Ban common spells for star arrow roll chances.
Why it works
Star arrow deals insane damage in a single hit. This damage can be copied onto a fast hitting spell using duet to create very high total dmg. Every tick of damage from lightning dash can deal something between 1 000 and 10 000. Charge mode not only allows the user to charge up a huge amount of mana in the author fight, but also allows to charge up the crit rate of star arrow during the channel (channel a bit longer than just for the charge mode time for max dmg).
Important note: I’ve realized it kinda sucks without orbit so you should try to at least get a base orbit or duration.
