Mechabellum – Unit Drops and Unit Cards Rules Explained

Unit Drops and Unit Cards Mechanic

For completeness sake ill be as technical as I can. Also for unit drops in FFA there are specialized rules that im less familiar with. This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all the known rules but im certain everything here is true as of this post, things are always subject to tweak by the devs…

Unit Drops

If any player has “credit value” invested in a unit, it wont show as a drop unless there are less than 4 options that meet this criteria… this includes

  • Having the unit in play.
  • The unit having an unlock cost and being unlocked (Even if its free for a giant spec to unlock a melter, being unlocked has a cost so that bars it from drops).
  • In case there are less than 4 eligible drop, the game avoids unit with techs unlocked at highest priority.

The exact values of what can drop when varies but strong patterns will emerge from observation

The units in r2 drops are usually worth 300 like lvl 2 tier 2 units, or scorps or typhoons (the total value is closer to ~400 if you consider the free unlocks).

The units in r3 drops are usually worth 400 therefore lv1 1 giants or lvl 3 200 cost units tend to appear (the technical value of this is considered ~600 sing a giant is 200 unlock and 400 to buy so 3 lvl 1 units costing 200 will drop her too or lvl 2 units costing 300 can as well).

  • The round 4 units can be lvl 2 giants as they are ~800 and the list of possible combinations grows as the round numbers increase.
  • No more than 3 units can appear in a drop, except for 100 cost units, where 4 is the max.
  • Hackers cant drop.

Unit drops can never be on consecutive rounds

  • The first drop will be between rounds 2-4.
  • The second drop is between rounds 5-7.
  • The third is between 8-11.

Cards

For cards there are similarly some concrete patterns

Cards have tiers ranging from 1-4

  • Tier 1 is gray and is considered “free” but you dont skip so in reality its a 50 supply opportunity cost. These can appear on any round.
  • Tier 2 is blue and “cost 50” (not including skip opportunity costs). These can also appear on any round.
  • Tier 3 is gold and cost “100” (not including skip opportunity costs). These can appear r3 onward.
  • Tier 4 is red and cost “200-350” (not including skip opportunity costs). These appear round 4 and onward.

Only 1 card that modifies a unit, like improve/ER/mass prod can be taken for each unit. If one such card appears like ER WF and neither player takes it, that same card or a different WF card can appear in latter rounds

Improved cards cant drop if someone has that unit in play. Mass prod cards and cards that modify unit stats, but not the units cost, can appear after a unit is in play.

Spells can for the most part show up multiple times unless they are specifically barred from doing so like fire and oil recently were.

Similarly most specialists can drop more than once, but i know that strike spec cannot… other specific exceptions may also exist.
