Heavy Horn Gun Build Guide
Ву René.
This Heavy Bowgun build is designed to do one thing: Farm the upcoming monsters that are hopefully and finally a real challenge. There are so many new players and that’s good. But most don’t even know what to expect from something like an Arch Tempered Rey Day. There will be missions failing. A lot. So let’s just say no to that.
How? We play support sword and shield! (Yeah… sure… that could work but it’s kinda basic, isn’t it?)
Weapons
Primary:
Ableben Abzug
- Pierce level 3 capacity 4 Standard mode 2.
- Exhaust ammo (it’s so freaking goated, absolutely use it towards the mid-late fight when the monsters are raging badly).
Esperanza Cannon
- Normal level 2 capacity 6.
- Recover ammo and demon ammo. Use it.
Secondary: For DPS when you feel safe about your team.
Greifen
- Pierce level 3 capacity 2 Ignition mode 2.
- Paralysis or Sleep (use the sleep the same as paralysis, do not stop attacking, screw the wake up).
Steel Assault
- Pierce level 2 capacity 6.
- Armor ammo potentially, nothing too wild here.
Armor
Disclaimer: Absolutely be sure to UPGRADE the armor, it’s mainly lower rarity gear so the defense will get you killed way too easily! Upgrade it and you won’t have any problems ever. It’s worth it!
- Blango Helm β
- Blango Mail β
- Duna Wildbraces β
- Blango Coil β
- Doshaguma Greaves β
- Mushroom Charm III
- Rocksteady Mantle
You do NOT want to be interrupted when you’re trying to save somebody’s life, okay?!! Corrupted Mantle will get nerfed soon anyway, so get used to not being stupidly OP for free.
Decos
Primary:
- Opener 3, rest Critical Boost.
Secondary:
- Paralyzer/Sleep attack if Greatsword, rest crit boost.
- If anything else, max crit boost, rest opener.
Armor:
- 3x Mighty
- 2x Sheath
- 1x Challenger
- 3x Friendship
- 2x Satiated
- 1x Flash (start using flash pods, especially to interrupt attacks that might cart a team mate, it’s so easy and strong on the HBG specifically)
Alternatively, just use an element defense against the type you’re fighting against, maybe thunder resistance for Arch Tempered Kirin soon for example.
You do have access to the two-piece “Victory” attack buff, so you might just use it at the beginning of a fight, but it’s not really worth keeping up constantly.
Also keep in mind you are wearing the alluring pelt set, so monsters might target you more than usual when you attack them. Again, if the monster attacks you, it’s not carting your team.
Lastly, your item loadout. I’m on Xbox so I just stuffed everything useful into a single dial wheel and I’m getting used to it. Maybe if you have some more affinity for micromanaging your inventory, you can even set up two wheels next to each other, but I think that’s not needed.
