Monster Hunter Wilds – Insect Glaive Wexless Top Damage Build

IG Wexless Top Damage Build with Quality of Life

Ву Mercatto.

I bring you a top-tier raw damage build with a tremendous amount of quality of life that does not rely on Weakness Exploit to achieve close to 100% affinity. I wanted a build without Weakness Exploit for a few reasons: it relies in multiplayer on people not popping wounds on sight, and our finisher is so massive that very often many hits do not hit a weak point anyway.

Breakdown of the Build

How to achieve 100% affinity:

  • I run Maximum Might 3 for 30% affinity. My weapon has a base affinity of 27% thanks to its Expert Jewel III, and Antivirus paired with the Gore set offers another 25% affinity. This lands us on a very reliable 83% affinity that does not depend at all on what part you are hitting! A Corrupt Mantle will net you another 10-30% affinity, getting us an easy 100%.

A plethora of damage sources:

  • The 4-piece Gore Magala set bonus (Black Eclipse II) offers you +15 raw attack power when you heal your frenzy, and it lasts a good while.
  • Burst 5 is simply the strongest damage skill at the moment to further increase our raw damage output.
  • Critical Boost 3 for obvious reasons.

Insane amounts of quality of life:

  • Flayer 2; currently Flayer is bugged and Flayer 2 causes wounds far more often than Flayer 5. Why? Nobody knows.
  • Evasion Window 4. Vastly more iframes is always nice; dodge any roar and most attacks easily.
  • Divine Blessing 3 ensures an additional safety net if you do get hit.
  • Razor Sharp 3 / Handicraft 1 guarantees very long-lasting white sharpness. Can swap this out!

The Artian weapon:

  • You want at least 15-20% affinity on your weapon and the rest in attack or sharpness.
  • The element is up to you; anything goes, whether it’s sleep, para, poison, blast, or a damage element – it does not matter.

Kinsect choice: up to you, but Arkmaiden is always one of the best, if not THE best choice.

Why Not Just Go with Weakness Exploit?

The goal of this build is to be as reliable as possible regardless of situation, monster, or skill level of the player. Weakness Exploit is great, but it also counts on you hitting weakpoints perfectly. Not everyone is good enough at the game to be that perfect at attack placement.

Multiplayer and Weakness Exploit hate each other. In multiplayer, the monster randomly changes target, other players will focus strike wounds, and so on, making Weakness Exploit far less reliable than in solo.

In multiplayer, due to random monster aggro, you WILL get hit. This build offers safety nets that most builds do not. Divine Blessing 3 and Evade Window 4 will get you through anything.

Conclusion

I am convinced this is one of the best possible builds when it comes to consistent results for both solo and multiplayer. The element or status of your glaive being purely up to the player due to the damage being purely focused on raw attack gives the build a lot of versatility. It’s not hard to make a decent glaive for this build. If it doesn’t have elemental boost, it’s good.
