MU: Dark Epoch – Ultimate ENE DW Build Guide

ENE DW Build

By Jefcoat_Lorencia 10.

This is going to be a long guide and will probably take me a while to put together, so bear with me. First and foremost, this is going to be from my experience – some of you might not agree with me and that’s okay! If something works better for you, then go with that. ENE DW is a great class for all-around PVP and PVE. This guide is going to lean more towards PVP since that’s going to be all the end game really is, and that’s what I love to do most.

I don’t have any spreadsheets or anything that’s going to make this fancy, but I’ll do my best to make it straightforward and to the point. I have done a lot of trials and tribulations with my current setup and have spent thousands of diamonds testing different theories and builds, so once again… this is my setup and this is what works for me. Most everything you will see in here has already been touched on in the other forum, but this will all be condensed up top so you don’t have to scroll through a thousand messages to see what is recommended.

Basics

Starting with the basics… When leveling your character, you don’t want to put anything in VIT as the game automatically scales it with your character level, so leave that be. Skills are going to go in order as you progress. The game does a good job outlining new skills as you progress in level and stats, so just follow that up in order of sequence. All your stats will be essentially distributed into ENE, AGI, or STR. 500 STR is the highest you will need to wield any gear in the game, so it shouldn’t go any higher than that. I kept dumping into ENE until I needed to put on the next piece of gear, then put in the minimum amount of STR required to put on said gear. You level so fast in this game, don’t worry too much about each skill point because you will be able to redistribute them later on. I ran pure ENE DW up almost to first master class then switched over to a Hybrid, but I will say I wished I would have gone faster to hybrid because the difference is pretty significant in either doing PVP or PVE, so I will definitely recommend hybrid as you move forward. I’ll post some basic photos of early game and do some explaining, and then back into the typing.

Constellations

These are the constellations that I will die by. After trying so many different combinations, this has by far been the best situation for me. Take it for what it is – if you don’t want to go that route, so be it, but as far as I’m concerned, this has been the bread and butter of my build up to this point. ENE DW is all about cooldown reduction, so getting off more casts and more skills per second is going to be your friend when putting down DPS, either for PvP or PvE. Highlighted are my constellations and what I would recommend.

Skills

Now keep in mind you won’t be able to pick up all these skills early on – this is way down the line, but I will explain the route I took moving up the boards. You obviously want to get all the ENE skills first, along with Death Poison and Soul Barrier. I didn’t run those two for the longest time, but they are definitely needed when you are leveling. They are cheap to get too, without needing a lot of stats to obtain them. I don’t run Evil Spirit in my build anymore because I have so many AOE skills that it’s just a waste of skill points.

As you max out your skills with ENE, you want to then start picking up AGI skills – trust me, it will make a massive difference. Poison Spear, Poison Sensation, Curse, and Poison Swarm you should be able to pick up fairly soon at higher levels (under 400). It wasn’t until after picking up T4 gear that I was able to grab Explosion. Without going into too much detail about everything, just trust me on the skills – I promise it’s the way to go.

Next is the skill bar. THIS DOES MATTER. How you place your skills matters in the rotation of the auto combat.

To put it simply… when you look at the bottom right of your screen, if you have the wheel of skills, you are in battle mode. If you have the 4 skills at the bottom of your screen, you are in Normal mode. If you look at the differences in the normal mode and battle mode, you will see they aren’t the same… when in auto combat, depending on what mode you are on is what the character is going to use. Honestly, I am always in Battle Mode; very rarely am I in normal mode unless I’m just AFK in LOD and not paying attention to the game.

A lot of newer players playing DW think that Aqua Flash is too slow and clunky; at first it is, but as you level up and your attack speed increases, this is definitely a good skill moving forward. The main skills leveling up that you really need are blizzard and ice sealing, but once again, you are going to get all the skills anyway, so just enjoy the game and level up. PvP doesn’t really matter until Master Class 20 when you open up Arenas with other servers, so don’t get all bunched up about it. When looking to Awaken skills…

Hellfire awakened is only a VIP reward, so if you are F2P, there isn’t much you are going to be able to do about that. BUT Mana Boost, Blizzard, and Ice Sealing are definitely skills you want to awaken when you can (AFTER CUSTOS). Once again, without going too much into detail about the skills, just put some faith in me when I tell you this is going to be the best setup for running a DW.

Gear

Let’s talk about gear… I wasted a lot of garnets while trying out different gear combos, different gear sets, blah blah blah… At the end of the day, if you are ENE DW, you will wear ENE set gear. Don’t make the same mistake I did by completely leveling up different gear sets to find out that full ENE gear is the best situation for you. After doing testing, CD reduction is going to be better than the Poison % buff from AGI… Think of this build as having poison as a backup and an additive, not the main bread and butter.

When it comes to gear, always evolve first. When I get a new set (T1, 2, 3, 4, 5), I will automatically upgrade it to +11 if I can, then work on the evolution. Evolving gear is the way to go because constellation adds CP. I will ALWAYS evolve my weapon, shield, and gloves first… Those are your ATK bonus pieces – get those bumped up first because that will boost your DPS the most.

After +11, if you really want to go for it, +15 is the max I go… I don’t see any more benefit of going higher than that unless you are a whale and just want to spend garnets for no reason. +14 for the price I think is just fine unless you are at a point where you don’t know where to put your garnets.

Equipment Awakening is another thing that gets expensive… but max awaken your weapon, shield, and gloves first, then everything else to follow. Options upgrade… this tab is strictly for whales. The amount it costs to bump these up is not worth it… +9 for me is max. After that, the amount of diamonds it takes to get higher is astronomical, and this tab only matters super late game whale vs whale, so don’t stress about upgrading your options.

The other stuff about gear is more of a general information that a lot of you should know, and it doesn’t necessarily pertain to DW, so I’m not going to go too deep into detail about the gear. Plain and simple: max the gear out as much as you can…

Runes

I’ll save you the time from diving into all those runes. Essentially, most of my runes are going to be “Blaze, Meteor, Blizzard, Poison Swarm, Poison Explosion.” Those are really what I went heavy with, the reason being a lot of PVP is burst damage right off the rip.

Blaze and Poison Explosion do massive burst damage. Obviously, you want to level your runes up to 7 – don’t rush it, it takes time. Very rarely do I buy runes unless I have some extra garnets that I’m not using, but if I’m saving for something, runes are my last priority.

They are a must though when it comes to Ancient bosses; being able to tank hits is a benefit and your runes are going to help you do so. Use your green shards first obviously, and then as you progress and get purple shards to drop, just exchange them out for the greens as time goes on. There’s really not much to talk about when it comes to runes. Yes, they do help, but I don’t think there’s much to go over.

Flags

A small honorable mention is the flags. Don’t waste your materials on refining unless you have an abundance of them and can’t progress further. Promotion is a must – they give you huge jumps in CP. Pattern is another thing to take into consideration.

Even if you have better pattern runes to put in, go for the best whole body combination over, let’s say, all purples (2 purples and 4 greens to get the power of destruction will be better than just 4 purples, if that makes sense).

Awakening is another big one, but it’s not something that I harp on. If you go that route, “Burnt Bridges” is what I recommend because I have plenty of healing properties later on and want the extra survivability. Once again, flags aren’t really huge but definitely get them when you can!

Sets

Next is going to be sets… Some of you might have it, some of you might not. For T3 (Charon, Vicious, Qiraji), 100% go with Qiraji. It’s the hardest set to get, but it’s also the best when it comes to CP as well as overall stats. I’ve seen some other DWs running other sets – if it works for you, go for it, but I’m all about damage and CP.

When making a set, you can make it whatever you want while leveling up because you can break the set down without losing any materials up until legendary (red). I’m not going to dive too much into it because it’s pretty straightforward. When you open up set treasure, you are able to spend garnets to upgrade your set. Blue comes from World Bosses, while green, purple, and red come from Set treasure spins.

Properties

Last is going to be properties. This will definitely be subjective. I have spent so many diamonds going back and forth with different combinations, it’s ridiculous. The current one I have now is strictly PVP based. If you care about Guild Boss damage, this isn’t going to be a setup for you.

This is strictly for Chaos Castle, Castle Siege, Arena, Plundering… anything to do with PVP. If you are wanting PVE damage and Guild Boss damage, then you are going to want to invest heavily into the Common property. I’m sure this will change again in the future, but as of right now, I think it’s definitely solid for the PVP aspect, especially in Arenas.

Currently not running anything into the Common section… I definitely will put points into Common last if I don’t change anything up at the moment. ATK and DEF have a lot of stuns, and that’s what I want for PVP – that’s the survivability of a DW. I’ve been fighting another DW in Arena who is roughly the same stats but 15 levels higher, and he is ALL DEF, and he gets slapped, so I’m not sure I would try and go that route. Other than that, I’m just going to keep feeding into ATK and DEF until the bottom tiers are maxed out at 10 and then move into Common.

Stats

Here are my current stats… From what I can tell you, 556 is what is needed to pick up Poison Explosion, which finished my early game hybrid. I’m still on the fence right now about changing it up – if I do, I will likely drop 300ish ENE and put it into AGI to pick up Switching and Illusion, but I haven’t tried that yet, so I can’t speak on it.
