Tips for Building the RPG

First of all: RPG has long periods of vulnerability at the start because of low rate of fire. If you miss or only hit one thing instead of a group of things with your AoE, you have to dodge more enemies while you reload.

So there are two keys to success in my mind:

• It helps to have a strong weapon with good wave clearing ability on your drone – meaning it can carry you a little if it goes poorly.
• Probably your first upgrade should improve either rate of fire or reload speed or both. Later it’s fine to take trade-offs that reduce these once you’ve built some up, but you don’t want a trade-off that reduces your reload speed or rate of fire in the very first level. Really good stuff for a first 1-2 levels would be jet stock, guarded grip, or ducky charm (on youor drone), any of the underbarrels but especially grenade launcher; decent stuff is turret placer, lightweight grip, lightweight stock, blood mag, the list goes on; grabbing crit chance early is good on pretty much anything.

Beyond that, it’s up to you and kinda depends on what you ended up with in your first levels. Many good combos can work.

• I recommend trying this one first, if you have orbital barrel unlocked: Dissuasive barrel building into orbital barrel (rockets orbiting you increases your ability to make them stack up and hit the right targets, and it also protects you a little (shield made of rockets).
• Low mag size build is pretty easy since it starts with a small mag. And then you can seek out all the bonuses that trigger on reload like grenades or goldeneye damage bonus.
• High mag size with bonuses for how many empty slots in your clip and magnigrip to stack up all the different bonuses to collection range.
• Bullet Hell barrel building toward the tier4 that lets you shoot rockets in all directions at once
• Get a splitter and/or a helix and/or a bunch of extra bullet count and once you have a lot rockets on the screen per second, then take tech module and become a bubble with angry buzzing rockets inside.
• If you built sniper barrel because it had crit, keep in mind that firing will slow you, so building too much RoF isn’t as great in that case; and you’ll want to focus at least one thing that gives you movespeed.
