Getting Blob Barns
Regular Barn
Flint gives you the Barn Blueprint in Week 2 or later. The barn holds 4 blobs. You need 50 wood and 50 fiber to build it.
Big Barn
You can buy the Big Barn Blueprint from Flint for 15,000 coins. It holds 8 blobs. You need 100 stone, 100 wood, and 5 iron ingots to build it.
How to Build
- Go to the Workbench on your farm
- Pick the blueprint
- Place the barn on your farm
Tip: You can move trees, logs, bushes, and stones to make space. You don’t have to clear them.
You can build more than one barn of each type.
After Building
When you enter your first barn, Jade and Clara show up. Jade gives you a free Cow blob egg. She shows you how to hatch it and take care of blobs.
Breeding Blobs
Getting Heart Fruit
You need at least 2 heart fruit to start breeding. You can buy them from Flint for 25 coins each. Flint moves around the map during the week. Later, you can buy a Heart Fruit tree from Emerald to grow your own.
How to Breed
Put two blobs in a barn. Give each blob a Heart Fruit using the Blob Interaction button. You’ll see a heart icon on the blobs. Go to sleep. The next day, the blobs will have an egg icon showing 1/3. This increases each day. After four days, you’ll find an Egg (Brood). You can hatch it in any barn with space or sell it for 400 coins.
Breeding Multiple Blobs
If you give Heart Fruit to 4 or more blobs in one barn, you can’t control which ones pair up. Two random pairs will form after you sleep. To control breeding pairs, only start one pair per day. Wait until they’re making an egg before starting another pair.
Mutations
Mutations make brood blobs stronger.
A blob can have up to three mutations. Each mutation protects the blob from a specific problem:
- Skull: protects from poison
- Spiral: protects from confusion
- Zzz: protects from sleep
- Message icon: protects from silence
- Eye with an x: protects from blindness
You can get more mutations by learning the Breeding (Mutations) skill.
Inherting Abilities and Skills
Blobs can have abilities that are either passive (like making milk) or active (like the Turtle Blob’s sprinkler). These can be passed down when breeding. A new blob can only have one ability.
Skill Inheritance
New blobs get skills from their parents randomly. You can’t control this much, but there are some things to know:
Element Matching
A new blob can only get skills that match its element or have no element. For example, if you breed a forest blob with a magma blob, and the new blob is magma-type, it can’t get forest-type skills.
Skill Types to Aim For
Try to breed for 4 skills with different icons:
- Sword (for attack)
- Clock (for speed)
- Shield (for defense)
- Two-person icon (for group attacks)
Having skills with different icons helps improve all of the blob’s stats. Group attack skills are good for battles with multiple blobs.
There’s no perfect set of skills, but mixing different types can help you do well in the game.
Blob Stats and Happiness
When you hatch an egg, the new blob usually has stats close to its parents’ average. Happiness affects this. A happier egg often gives better stats. A less happy egg gives worse stats.
To make blobs happy, you need to think about a few things. Put decorations in the barn. Ten items is the max. Each blob likes different temperatures. You need to test what works best. Use heaters or air conditioners to change barn temperature. The season also affects temperature. Clean up blob poop every day. Use a shovel or litter box. Pet your blobs to make them happy. We don’t know everything about happiness. It seems that past happiness and feeding might matter too.
To check happiness, look at the icons in the barn. The flower shows decorations, the thermometer shows temperature, the brush shows cleanliness, and the heart shows interactions.
For the best results, take care of your blobs every day. Feed them, clean up after them, and make sure their barn is comfortable.
Breeding Blob Features
Blobs get features from their parents. This includes colors and physical traits. Each blob has three colors. Some blobs might have hidden colors that can appear in their children. Colors can mix between parents. The main color is usually easy to see, like a pink pig. Other colors show up in parts like ears or wings.
Blobs can pass down things like face shape, ears, wings, tails, and markings. Size and shape can also be inherited. When two blobs have a baby, it might get features from either parent or none at all. If both parents have the same feature, the baby will probably have it too.
If you breed a blob and it’s close to what you want, it’s often better to breed it with one of its parents instead of starting over. This can help you get the features you’re looking for. Breeding blob features isn’t always predictable. You might need to try a few times to get the blob you want.
