Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen – Combat Techniques Explained

How Do Combat Techniques Work?

By Jiraki.

Techniques are skills used in combat that can provide powerful debuffs through player and class dependencies.

There are two different kinds of Techniques:

  • Class specific.
  • Weapon type.

Both types of Techniques are automatically learned when you reach a certain skill level.

Example:

  • When a Shaman reaches a weapon skill level of 10 they automatically learn a new Technique called Ancestor’s Rest.

You have a limit of 4 Techniques available at a time on your Technique Bar (the top left bar in the image below).

Some Techniques use a resource called Readiness, others use mana, others have no cost. Read each individual Tooltip to know what the cost is for each Technique. You will generate Readiness over time during combat, spend it wisely!

A key component of the Technique system is player dependencies.

Example:

  • Player 1 uses ‘Forced’ technique to create the ‘Exposed’ state.
  • Player 2 can now use the ‘Bramble Sting’ technique to exploit the ‘Exposed’ state. Based on their equipped weapon type, ‘Bramble Sting’ will:
    • Piercing: create ‘Pierced Armor’ state, reducing NPC Armor Class by 25%
    • Slashing: create ‘Defenseless’ state, reducing NPC chance to evade physical attacks
    • Blunt: create ‘Restrained’ state, reducing NPC action speed by 25%

All of this information is available in the tooltips for the individual Techniques (as shown in the image below).

This example shows the power and importance of player cooperation. A solo player would not be able to take advantage of these powerful debuffs.
