How to Fish

Fishing and Baits

• Any type of bait can be used to catch any fish. For poor people or those who want to save their gems, using breadcrumbs is okay.

• Always buy this bait when available in the shop. It’s the best bait to use when fishing.

When to use the other 4 types of baits?

They serve a specific purpose to increase the catch rate of size-specific fishes. Use them when you are trying to catch a specific fish for the catalog bonus.

Which Fishing Equipment to Prioritize and Upgrade

• Fishing line: Increases strength, which prevents large fish from breaking free. Large fish make up the majority of red fishes, which are rare and valuable. Moreover, less breakage equals more large fish to sell and earn shells.

• Fishing bobber: Increases focus, preventing fish from escaping. Less escape equals more fish for the catalog and more shells.
• Fishing rod (fisherman): Not as important, but somewhat okay because it increases the number of shells earned.
• Hook (highly efficient): Not as useful as the other equipment.

Aquarium

Whenever you catch a purple rarity fish or above, look at the bonus stats provided. Certain fishes provide great bonus stats, such as the octopus that gives more damage dealt to light enemies. If you think the bonus stats are good, keep them in your tank.

Refining

• Always use gems when refining, never use treasure coins.
• All attributes are good, just try to avoid scavenger and fishing speed.
• Rare stats are obviously great, but there’s no need to waste a lot of gems to reroll for them.
• Reroll for specific stats when you are trying to catch a specific fish.

Fishing Progression

When starting out on a new map:

• You can use breadcrumbs to try and obtain all the green, blue, and purple rarity fishes first.

Once you have completed most of the catalog:

• Look at which fish you are missing from the catalog, and check the size of the fish. Buy the size-specific bait and use it to catch that fish. For example, if you are missing a small fish, use the locust bait to increase the chance of catching small fishes.
• For an added chance, you can reroll for “(size) fish hunter” attributes in your fishing equipment to further increase your chances of catching that fish.
