Beginners FAQ
Is this Game F2P Friendly?
Yes! As every gacha game, this game has a lot of ways to power up one’s account, and there are almost unlimited ways to get stronger, but at the same time Pixel Heroes is really generous when it comes to giving F2P players enough resources to obtain endgame units and thus makes all content accessible and a really strong account more than achievable.
How Should I Spend My Gems?
Generally you want to save up for limited units and only spend gems on daily routine stuff. Do not spend on Light Summons!
Should I Reroll?
In my opinion, rerolling in Pixel Heroes is not needed unlike in other gacha games. Legendary Heroes (regular 5 stars) are just considered as Fodder (units you use to star up other characters).
You could think that getting a regular mythic hero will set you apart from other players in the early game, but the truth is that without duplicate characters later on you are still likely to hit a wall since normal legendary heroes will just outperform 5 star myth if you can’t star up them because they are easier to star up early. In contrast to this light/dark units will take over the game at some point and other mythics aren’t needed. Chances of getting l/d are extremely low and that’s why in my opinion it is just better to start playing early without worrying too much about this tedious min maxing.
For those of you that still want to reroll try to aim for light/dark units, especially Themis as it will be a really good future proof unit.
TLDR: If you really want you could give it a shot to reroll a few times but it is really not needed.

How to Spend Gems Efficiently
So now that we got the best purchases in Gem out of the way, what is actually the most efficient way to spend gems? To separate this section I will divide it in two categories – Daily routine and Events / Banners.
Daily Routine:
- AFK Sweeps
- All Divine Garden Claims
- All Dices for Uncharted Seas
- Guild Boss sweeps until the guild grimoire is maxed (lv. 40 all)
- The Spinach Can bundle for 300 gems
- Optional: Buy some fortune gold in Pluto’s Treasure if you really need gold
Irregular Spending:
- Limited Banners – Save up to 65k gems to guarantee 2 summons with pity (True Limited Characters prio) (Standard Limited will get added later to shop).
- When there are events up, there might be good things to buy.
- By levelling up the account level, certain Hero level packs will show up that can be bought with gems. In general these packs have a really good value and if you really need the resources and have gems to spare it is not wrong to go for them. But take in consideration how many gems you will need for upcoming events. In my opinion all bundles, but the first two – are worth the gems.
Explanation of Faction Summon
This kind of summon gets really important, so be mindful about summoning here. You can choose between the 3 main factions and the l/d summon. Your main goal is to build up as many dark/light units, since they are way superior than other myth heroes, so make sure to summon for l/d heroes.
By spending magic crystals to summon, there is a chance to receive heroes from the according faction summon as well as other materials like Faction Essence, Faction Emblem Marks as well as an essence that fills up the “bubble” to summon extra units. This is like in the Hero Summon a “pity system” (if I am right on that). Faction Emblem Marks can be used to buy a specific 5star in the Faction Shop.
Explanation of Hero Summon
This is your main way to get new units.
There are three different types of summons right now. Star Summons, Light Summons and Friendly Summons. With like every RNG element in this game, you can check out the rates to pull certain units in the according screens.
The Star summon uses blue tickets (Covenant of Star) and will most likely yield 2-3 star units, you could either dismantle for materials or use it to star up other units.
In Light Summon you will use your golden tickets (Covenant of Light) to summon 3-5 stars which includes Myth Heroes. Because this is the standard banner it is not recommended to use gems on these pulls.
The tickets used for drawing can’t be used for future limited banners, so feel free to use the tickets you get without worrying. In the Friendly Summons you can use your friendship points from daily friend interactions to summon 2-5 star heroes. By summoning you will fill up a bar for “Fate Summon” that is unlocked by reaching VIP2 to gain guaranteed 5 stars.
Explanation of Mystic Island
This mystic island will unlock at account level 55.
It will be a major power spike for your combat rating and stats once you unlock it and get your first upgrades and mystics pets on it. The following section and information was provided by Jing and aims to guide players on the best red and yellow spirits to unlock and star up
The OG 4
- Hidden Turtle
This spirit summons itself onto an empty spot on your team, best to tank dmg (esp single-target rage skills). It is important that your team formation has the most top right spot empty for this pet. If it summons itself at the back then?
- Heaven Gospel
Self explanatory. It provides a great team wide heal.
- Wind Flash
The best AOE dps spirit + it buffs your strongest dps with an extra follow-up hit.
- Loyal Apostel
This is the best yellow spirit of all. It has a high single-target hit and the damage dealt is also healed on your lowest hp teammate.
Can Be Considered
- Shadow Cub
This spirit will be the easiest to max out to 5 stars. It is regularly given out for free, so no need to focus it from selection boxes. Standard high AOE dps.
- Thunder Wing
Zapdos idk.
- Curse Pixie
The dmg is so ass, but getting this red pet unlocks the “link” for team stat buff in the collections page.
- Magic Master
A very random 4-hit. Only the last hit good damage and has stun potential.
Note: After a year or so, time-limited spirits and hero souls are released, in the same manner as the true limited units. Both of these time limited spirits and souls far overpower the current ones shown, but they are still very far from global.
Explanation of Hero Altar
Hero Dismiss
In this section, you can dismiss pulled heroes for valuable resources that you need to level up your heroes or buy out important l/d units for further account progression.
It is safe to dismiss any 2 star hero you get, since its only purpose is to get dismissed anyway. There is a check marker for this so make sure to check it so you have less work to do.
You typically don’t want to dismiss anything above 3*. As for 3* itself it really depends if you want to dismiss them or not. Since 3 star heroes can be used to star up 4 star units, and thus creating fodder for your good heroes, you want to make sure to always have some spare 3 stars for the corresponding faction. If you feel like you have a lot of spare heroes to use as fodder. Feel free to dismiss as many as you want.
The “Dismiss all” function makes sure to only dismantle 2-3 star heroes, as well as keeping 10 3 stars of each faction. So imo this is a safe and fast feature to use.
For dismissing 3 stars, you will start getting a currency that can be used in the Hero Shop. A 3 star dismiss gives you 10 of these and you will need 6000 for a l/d copy for example.
Quick note since this isn’t covered anywhere else yet: You need the same faction type to use as fodder for the 3 standard factions, so don’t just dismiss all 3 stars for a single faction.
Primary Rollback
Realms
Divine Garden
Divine Garden is one of the most important features in Realm to get used to as soon as possible. When unlocking it, it is likely that you only unlocked “Violet Garden”.
This Divine Garden has 4 different flower types or “garden sections” – Violet Garden, Gold Laurel, Soul Rose and Black Lily.
Each flower type yields really useful resources that you will need in different aspects of the game to push your characters in power and get stronger overall.
Each day you will get 2 free claims for each flower, as well as 2 extra claims that can be purchased with gems. By using a claim, you will get the resources that are mentioned in “each harvest yields”. By reaching certain power thresholds, you will be able to challenge enemies to upgrade your flower level and thus increase the resources for each claim.
Like mentioned in the FAQ is it highly recommended to buy out all claims on a daily basis. Make sure to push in campaign and level up your heroes equally to push your combat rating to the next thresholds to upgrade your Flower Types, so you can get extra resources, since they will increase with higher flower levels. By doing so you can also unlock the other flower types if you haven’t yet.
Tower of Beings
Tower of Beings is an progression mode in Pixel Heroes, where you will face stronger and stronger enemies the further you advance. By clearing these stages you will get valuable resources for upgrading or levelling your heroes. It is recommended to not neglect this feature early on, because it can boost your account by quite a bit with all the rewards.
If you have significantly more combat power than your enemy you will just skip that battle and advance to the next one.
You can claim your current floor reward daily – just to note here because I am not sure if it is covered elsewhere – You can battle in various modes in Pixel Heroes at the same time. For example it allows you to do story battles, while doing Tower of Being progression, while also doing other battles.
Song of Time
Song of a Time lets you discover and fight through a lot of stories for each mythic character. This is another story mode of Pixel Heroes but really focuses on the characters and their stories from the past.
Each character has a bunch of chapters to battle through and it rewards you with nice rewards once you complete a chapter. To succeed in battling, you have to make sure to follow all win conditions. E.g. having all Team HP above 30% at the end of the battle or finish a battle in 7 or less turns.
After the completion of all chapters for a character, a special interview is unlocked, which is way harder than the previous battles for that character, but at the same time gives the best rewards of all.
The mode itself and thus the battles get harder and harder and it will take some time to complete it.
Endless Sea
Uncharted Adventures
This feature of the game unlocks at level xx and is a board game style feature.
When unlocking it you will be guided through a tutorial how this feature works, but I am going to cover this section anyway.
Key Buildings:
- Pirate Ship
- Loop start
- Who is the big shot field
- Temple
- White wrap
- Black Warp
- Merchant
- City Hall building
- Sending Judgement Messengers building
After accumulating 100 points from rolling the dice, you can choose a free reward.
From the time writing this guide I only saw the possibility to choose hero shards or diamonds, but I would recommend the diamonds out of these, since they will have a more flexible usage.
Visiting other players:
You will be sent to the board of another adventurer, if you happen to land on key buildings while rolling the dice, you will be able to destroy them with bombs, which will give 20 extra gems as reward each.
If you land on enemy Judgement Messengers, you will get caught and sent to home while losing the extra rewards you would get by completing one full lap. It is possible to continue when paying a gem fee.
Although it might seem like a waste of gems at first, buying all dice on a daily basis is highly recommended, since it not only gives you tons of resources for levelling up heroes, it also gives back a lot of gems in general.
Seed of Calamity
In this mode, you can participate to defeat bosses and earn great rewards as server wide damage damage thresholds are reached. Each boss rotates and opens at a specific indicated time that is shown under the boss. It will last for 3 days once active.
River of Oblivion
Gem Realm
This feature unlocks at account level 50. Every week on Tuesday/Thursday you will get a chance to participate and clear a small realm map that yields gem rewards, there is also a mini boss and a realm boss that will give extra gems when winning. Next to these enemies there are 2 “lucky wheel” features that can give tons of gems when being lucky.
By each completion or failure of this realm map, the difficulty level could either raise, which will result in harder enemies but more gem resources the next time the realm opens, or the opposite that it will get easier again but the gem rewards will decrease.
Lava Mine
Once you reach lvl 75 account level, this feature will unlock. You will most likely notice that you get another unknown ressource you didn’t see until reaching lvl 75 from various sources like daily tasks. These are used to dig in the Lava Mine.
Digging in the Lava Mine will give you you resources and it has a lot of extra rewards if you reach certain milestones. There comes a ranking with it that resets weekly.
You can spend these mining resources in the mining shop. The items we want to get from the shop are these “monuments”. For digging you will have a chance to either get blue or purple rarity ones. Sometimes we will get legendary quality ones as rewards but we will never get the mystic monuments. That’s why I would recommend getting either the legendary boxes from the mining shop, or you could straight up save for the mystic ones if you feel like it.
Because we don’t get many digging attempts daily, I recommend buying that 300 gem pack that gives more digs daily since digging is the only source to get these passive stats and they will play a huge part over time.
