Guide to Lucy Build
By gamedos
So, you pulled for Lucy and got her. Congratulations!
Foreword
Now, it is time to spend all those hard-earned materials and candy to get her in fighting shape. Whether you simply want to use her to breeze through the story, or face the upcoming raids, there are four things you need to level up:
- Insight
- Level
- Resonance
- Suitable Psychube
The guide will also include some additional explanations for newer players. I will be splitting this guide into sections for easier perusing.
Insight
All 5 and 6 star rarity characters can reach a maximum of insight 3 (I3). Some do just fine at I2, while others benefit greatly from their I3, where a core part of their kit is unlocked or strengthened. Lucy is one of the latter.
Lucy’s ultimate is a buff-type ultimate. It allows all her attacks to have afflatus (i.e. class) advantage, gives her an atk boost, and allows her to gain dynamo stacks before each attack for 2 attacks. Dynamo is Lucy’s unique mechanic, which allows you to upgrade her cards and provides various other buffs.
Her I3 increases the class advantage damage boost and casts a mass attack 2-star incantation after the ultimate is cast. Additionally, whenever an enemy is defeated, Lucy gains 10 stacks of dynamo, gets a damage buff, and casts the same mass attack 2-star incantation as above (up to twice per turn).
To level her up to I3, you would need the materials in the first picture. All these materials, with the exception of the books/scrolls/pages, are available from the event shop. You will need a total of 6000 daily meals (event currency) to purchase the materials. A good idea is to farm for the materials you can’t buy (e.g., books) and use the currency obtained (from spending stamina) to buy some of the materials. The rest of the daily meals can be obtained from playing the story or finishing the tasks from the task list (under “24h Before the Storm”).
Note that orange and yellow materials can’t be directly farmed. You would have to farm their components and craft them in the wilderness (usually less efficient than buying them from the event shop).
Level
To unlock I3, you must first level her up to the level limit 3 times. A total of 535k Dust and 263K Sharpodonty are needed to reach I2 level 50 (max level). Then a further 200k Sharpodonty is needed to unlock I3.
While the shop also sells dust and sharp, I would advise you to first buy the materials. All event shops have dust and sharp, but not all will have the materials she needs. Also, as is the case with the other materials, buying from the shop is more efficient than directly farming. However, if you already have everything and are just missing e.g. sharp, you can farm the resource node and use the daily meals you earn to buy more sharp.
Leaving her at I3 level 1 is fine; however, you would typically want your DPS to be 10 levels higher than the rest of the team. Going beyond I3 level 30 is not advisable.
Resonance
Resonance is a character-bound mechanic that allows you to select a set of additional stats to give your character. It is a NxN grid where you can place puzzle pieces that each provide a fixed set of stats. When you use different pieces, you get different stat boosts.
In the picture above for example, the highlighted piece gives additional atk and def stats. Meanwhile, some of the unequipped pieces can increase HP or crit rate.
Levelling up resonance increases the size of the grid every two levels, and improves the quality and quantity of the pieces you can slot in. As Lucy is a DPS character, she is high-priority level 10 resonance (R10). For new players, try your best to at least get her to R7.
Next pictures show the materials needed to get Lucy to R7, then from R7 to R9, and finally to R10. There isn’t much value in going beyond R10.
Note that not all the materials are available from the event shop. And some are available, but the quantity is not enough. The orange material needed for R10 is obtained from the crystal casket in the event shop (see the shop screenshot).
Pyschube
Psychubes and Resonance combined represent around 50% of a character’s stats, thus a good quality, suitable, well-levelled pyschube can be the difference between clearing a stage and wiping.
For Lucy, you want her signature (has her picture on it) psychube “steps forward”, which is available in the shop (see picture). It is hands-down the best psychube for Lucy. However, especially for starting players, you can use the 5 star psychube “yearning desire” (from the regular fragment shop) for Lucy if you do not have any other DPS psychubes.
After getting “steps forward”, you optimally want to max it to level 60. However, a good short-term goal is to get it to level 50.
To level a psychube, you need psyhcube exp materials, sharpodonty, and polarization materials (to ascend the level limit). All of which can be bought from the event shop, then slowly farmed later since the available materials are not enough to reach level 60. Prioritise getting the I3 materials and the psychube, since the psyhcube leveling materials are available in every event shop so can be bought from future event shops.
