Rivals of Aether 2 – Forsburn Ledge Invulnerability Loop

ForsLIL Guide (Forsburn Ledge Invulnerability Loop)

Section 1: About Forsburn’s Up Special

Forsburn’s Up Special is a teleport that can be used in a variety of angles. After initally pressing Up Special, you must input a direction (either by pressing or holding a direction) before the “Startup 1” window of the special expires. However, if you hold at a downward angle, this move will have a ledge grab box throughout the duration of the 20 frame “Travel” window of the Special.

In order to make the ledge grab box appear, you must be holding a direction with a y value of at least -0.2 or less (so -0.3, -0.4, etc). However, if you continue holding down during the “Travel” window, you may end up causing the ledge grab box to be disabled, depending on your y value. If your y value is at -0.8 or lower (so -0.9, -1.0, etc), then your ledge grab box will be disabled.

Section 2: Performing the LIL

To perform the LIL, grab the ledge and press back to let go of the ledge. Immediately press Up Special, and then hold a y direction of at least -0.2 or less. You have must press Up Special within 10 frames of entering the Fall animation, or you will fall to your death, even with a -0.2 y value (additionally, if you press Up Special on the 10th frame of the Fall animation, you must be holding a y value of -0.2 to -0.799, or you will fall to your death).

If you are holding a y value of -0.8 or lower, you have at most a 4 frame window to return the stick to neutral, with the window decreasing the longer you were in the Fall animation.

In my opinion, this is the more useful version of the ForsLIL to perform, as it is nearly impossible to perform without invincibility (in other words, you are guranteed to be fully invincible using this method, UNLESS you let go of ledge on frame 10 of the LedgeHang animation) and are only letting go of ledge for 19 frames at the least, and 35 frames at worst. It is also more consistent and lenient with it’s required angle than the alternative method.

The downside to this tech is that, if you hold a y value of -0.8 or lower, you have less time to return your stick to neutral or hold a y value of -0.2 to -0.799 than the alternative method.

Section 3: Double Jump LIL

To perform this LIL, grab the ledge and press back to let go of the ledge. While holding back, press jump to double jump away from the ledge. Press Up Special, and then hold a y direction of at least -0.2 or less. However, depending on how long you spend in the DoubleJump animation, the required angle to grab ledge and not end up on the stage becomes more and more deep.

In my opinion, this is the less useful version of the ForsLIL to perform. It is easier to accidentally perform this without full invincibility, and you are letting go of ledge for 26 frames at the least, and 37 frames at worst. It is also less consistent and lenient with it’s required angle.
