Enabling FSR3 Frame Generation (with Optional Nvidia Reflex Support)
How to Turn On FSR 3 Frame Generation
- Open your Windows Search bar and type %localappdata%. This will open the Local folder for your user account.
- In the Local folder, go to SilentHill2\Saved\Config\Windows.
- Find and open the Engine.ini file.
Add these two lines at the end of the file:
[SystemSettings]
r.FidelityFX.FI.Enabled=1
- Save and close the file.
- Start Silent Hill 2 and turn on FSR 3.0 Supersampling in the Display & Graphics menu.
Note: You might see some visual issues in the game because this isn’t official Frame Generation support. For example, you might notice things suddenly appearing on screen.
How to Turn On Nvidia Reflex (Optional)
- Download and install RTSS from the Guru3D website. You might need to restart your computer.
- Open RTSS and go to Setup.
- Scroll down and check the box for “Enable framerate limiter”. Choose Nvidia Reflex.
- Start Silent Hill 2. Then switch to the desktop and open RTSS again.
- Hold down Shift and click “ADD”.
- Choose SHProto-Win64-Shipping.exe (this is the Silent Hill 2 game process). Uncheck any other processes you don’t want. Click “OK”.
- Go back to the main RTSS window. With the Silent Hill 2 process selected, enter the FPS limit you want for Reflex (90 FPS is suggested).
- Start your game again with RTSS running.
Remember: You need to keep RTSS open in the background for the FPS limiter to work.
Bonus: How to Fix Ultrawide Cutscenes
- Download the file “Silent.Hill.2.Remake.widescreen.v[x].zip” from GitHub.
- Unzip the file.
- Put the unzipped contents in this folder:
- \SHProto\Binaries\Win64\
- This folder is inside your main Silent Hill 2 game folder.
This should fix the problem with cutscenes on ultrawide monitors.
