Useful Tips & Tricks for New Players
- Always do a pre-trip check of the truck systems before heading out on a job.
- You can put on the space suit inside the truck if a critical system fails and you need more time.
- To save on fuel and thrusters, you can disable drive assist located on the dashboard. Be sure you have set a course before disabling this though.
- Faster is not always better. Drive smoothly and lower your speed to be able to better react to your surroundings. If coming in hot, then either use the emergency brake or do a cool brake turn by turning fully and braking hard.
Reopening Shops and Jobs
When you’re connected to a job or shop, shut the airlock door. Click on the door icon to open the store or job menu again.
Storage Basics
Put small items in containers so they don’t break. Open the container on the shelf to keep it in place. Remember that things will still move around if you crash.
Energy Management
- Fix your truck at repair shops to help your oxygen generator. Repairs are free before 80,000 miles, so use this benefit.
- Turn off gravity most of the time. Only turn it on when buying, selling, or doing maintenance.
- While driving, only use headlights. Turn off other lights.
- Use the suit power cell to get the last bit of energy from almost empty power cells.
- Keep a box of batteries, air filters, and UCCs. Buy them when they’re cheaper, but always have enough.
- Sell used batteries, air filters, and UCCs at shops, especially when shops want them more.
Visibility
Use cameras on the left and right screens to see different views around your truck. This helps you see better, but be careful of small objects that are hard to spot on the old screens.
Map
- Press the tab key to open the map and other menus like skills.
- Zoom in with the mouse wheel to see what’s available in each area.
Trucking
- Drive slower. Going fast makes it easier to hit things.
- Use main roads when possible to avoid obstacles.
- Get fuel whenever you’re near a station, even with a trailer.
- Stop at shops when you’re not carrying cargo. Buy cheap supplies and sell used ones.
- Always take a job when leaving an area. Get paid for your travel.
Gravity Trick
Are you frustrated with always having to check the gravity compensator? Is it a problem when you have to reorganize everything because you didn’t replace the battery? I have a simple solution for this issue.
The Solution:
Just leave the container lids open while they’re on the shelves. This way, they’ll always be trying to open fully. That’s all there is to it. Now you can turn off the gravity and move around without worrying about items floating around the cabin.
Sell Starting Items
Sell the things you get at the start of the game, except for batteries, air filters, and other items you can use in your truck. Sell these items where you can get the most money. Prices change in different places. You can also buy items where they’re cheap and sell them where they’re more expensive.
Save Batteries
Don’t spend all your money on batteries at the start. The truck’s main system and controls use batteries. You can remove one battery and keep it for later when you need it.
Use Less Battery Power
To save the main battery, turn off all lights, including inside and outside the truck. This will use less battery power.
Air Filter Trick
Use only one air filter at a time instead of multiple filters. When it gets too used, you’ll need to change it.
