Strinova – Throwable Utilities Guide

The game has several utilities that you can use outside of your character’s kit that you should pay attention to, especially on the character select screen, as they can greatly affect the outcome of each round.

Guide to Throwable Utilities

Make sure you have a good balance of throwable utilities between each player on your team.

Interceptor

As the name suggests, it’s a utility that blocks any thrown utility that comes into contact with its dome. The dome can be difficult to spot when deployed by an enemy, but if you’re inside the dome, you can still throw utilities as long as they don’t touch its surface. The Interceptor has a time limit and can be destroyed, but when used effectively, it’s incredibly powerful. Ideally, your team should have at least two Interceptors, though even one can make a big difference.

Slow Bomb

This utility explodes upon hitting the ground after a single bounce, creating an area that slows enemies and prevents them from using Paper Mode. It’s particularly effective for catching enemies hiding behind cover and for slowing down enemy pushes, setting up for easier kills.

Wind Grenade

After a brief fuse, this grenade creates a tornado upon impact that lifts anyone within its range off the ground. It’s excellent for forcing enemies out of cover and disrupting channeled actions like reviving, planting, or defusing. Additionally, it can be a game-changer for halting pushes at choke points, especially in indoor areas. When used properly, it can also create new pathways for your team on certain maps.

Healing Grenade

On impact, this grenade explodes and creates a small field that grants any teammate within its area a “regeneration” status that lasts for a short time. This status has a different duration, so as long as you touch the lingering field at any point, you will begin to heal for the set duration. Essential to keep you and your teammates replenished right away.

Frag Grenade

Simple yet powerful, the Frag Grenade excels at hitting multiple enemies in a single blast and is particularly effective for finishing off downed opponents. Bring it if you want to guarantee kills after knocking down enemies.

Flashbang

After a short fuse, the Flashbang blinds anyone looking directly at it on their screen, regardless of the character’s line of sight. It won’t affect your teammates and can be blocked by smoke including Reiichi’s wall and Meredith’s sandfield (A3).

Smoke Grenade

This grenade explodes on the ground after a single bounce, creating a smoke cloud that blocks line-of-sight. It’s ideal for rotating positions, covering during planting/defusing, or reviving downed teammates. It’s especially effective when used in combination with a scan.

Tattletale

This niche utility sticks to surfaces and reveals the number of enemies in its vicinity. When it detects adversaries, it becomes yellow and displays on the minimap. The utility emits a loud beeping sound, allowing enemies to locate and destroy it if they find it.
