Guide to Abyss Quest
By theslushfund
Abyss Quest is the most grindy Arcade event that I figured making a guide would be worthwhile for those of us that struggle through it. This guide doesn’t make getting through it any faster or fool-proof, it is the best way I have found to make it easier. The biggest struggle in getting through it is RNG. Below is detailed the best team comp, strategy, perk pickups, & hero substitutions I have come across that should get you through Abyss Quest without relying on scrolls.
Heroes
- Must haves: SP Wukong, Erythnul, Sigfried, Daphne, & Tracy
- Other pickups: Roland, Dark Knight, & Athena
At the start, you will want Tracy & Daphne early. Use your tent rerolls if you have the coin, otherwise continue to pick up Light & Dark heroes in general, but focus on any of the above mentioned heroes first.
If you don’t get the must have heroes early & find you’re starting to struggle through day 2 or day 3 of the event, sometimes it is honestly best to restart at that point. Ugh, I know it sucks, but sometimes it be like that.
Perks
In the early game, prioritize perks that boost stats. Goods ones are Blessing of the Gods to boost Dark/Light (Erythnul, Sigfried), Blessing of Earth to boost earth (SP Wukong & Daphne), Blessing of the Wind to boost wind (Tracy), Swift as the Wind, Guardian Will, Spell Burst, & Divine Prayer to boost tank (Erythnul), & Enhanced Abilities for all heroes.
Specific must grab perks are Thousand Soldiers & Creator (summoned unit perks which pair with Tracy) & Radiance of Brilliance (shield perk which pairs with Daphne or Roland). Also, Soldier Assault to summon a minion & pairs well with Thousand Soldiers.
If you don’t see these perks, perks that boost Energy & Ultimates are good like Heroic Moment, Infinite Power, & Power Cycle. The specific perks we want are more common rolls in later days of the event, so if you don’t see them, stick with the perks above.
I’m out of space now, so read the comments below for team comp details.
Team Compositions
The team comp is Erythnul & Sigfriend in front with Daphne, Tracy, & SP Wukong in the back. The back positions depend on the composition of the enemy. You want to put Wukong across from a squishy DPS hero/support hero that he can solo with Doom Strike. Wukong should focus strong DPS that could damage the backline like Hera, Artemis, Persephone, Isis, & Temujin. If there aren’t any strong enemy attackers, focus Wukong on supports or heroes that have strong crowd control such as Titania, Circe, Prometheus, & Horus.
For enemy Raphaels or King Edwards, you may swap Sigfried for Black Knight as he negates their immortal abilities. However, the main team comp is strong enough to wipe these teams without much issue. I have some examples of fights below that can give you a better idea of how to adapt the team comp to different fights.
If you didn’t roll the main team, Athena might substitute for Wukong with her leap ability. Roland, with his shield abilities, is sometimes a good addition to the team as a sub to Daphne.
In fights, watch health bars. If a hero dies, it is worth it to quit & try again to avoid the death (unless you have revive potions to use).
Example 1: Neither the front or back line have heroes that cause concern other than Artemis, so have Wukong jump her in this situation.
Example 2: Since there’s an enemy King Edward, put Black Knight in for Sigfriend. Don’t put Tracy behind Black Knight since Edward’s ultimate (Fire>Wind) could wipe her. For Wukong, Dantes is a strong DPS, but Titania’s crowd controls effects are more of a threat, so line up Wukong to jump her.
Example 3: This is another King Edward, so use Black Knight. Again, put Wukong on Titania. Erythnul is strong enough that he dealing with the 2 water heroes on the right side is easy & we have enough sustain with Tracy & Daphne that Minotaur rushing the backline won’t cause problems, therefore, Wukong on Titania makes the most sense.
