Sword of Convallaria – Mechanics for Merchant / Elaman Spiral of Destiny Route

Quick Guide to Mechanics for Merchant / Elaman Spiral of Destiny Route

By Juff.

Basics

To select an order, click within the red box (see 1st image). Clicking outside of it shows a summary of the bonus goods and rewards.

Orders need to be filled with goods until the bar reaches one of the possible profit margins (see 2nd image). Each bar you fill increases the reward, and the gains are quite substantial, so you should aim to fill it to the last possible one (but don’t overshoot).

Most orders come with the option of assigning guards. There is a chance for caravans to be attacked. Many battles require you to defend cargo as an objective, and assigning guards ensures you have units spawn near it.

Most named orders last 1 week, and most random orders last 2 weeks. Guards will be unavailable until the order is finished.

Fatigue

Due to different upgrades, you start with only 2 rest slots, but basic recovery is 25% a week.

Units can be deployed in battle regardless of their status, even from rest or other caravans (like event battles in normal SoD). However, they will be given the returning status (unless it’s actually an event battle).

Another exception to this is caravan guards. The caravan guards of the last battle you fight will be considered available, regardless of how many battles they participated in.

Goods

A common good with +50% is of the same value as an advanced good with no bonus.

Overshooting an order only gives a couple hundred extra funds, regardless of how much you overshoot it by, and the autofill will always try to max it out, so if you want to be efficient, you’ll might have to do it manually.

Besides the orders in the beginning (wk11,wk14), there’s no bonuses for beer.

Merchants will appear in the Trading Post selling goods. There’s almost never a reason to buy from them, but you can sell goods for funds. Advanced goods sell for 1k each, which is more than you’d get from trading them. Good ending needs 90k at week 45.

The exception is the Elaman trader, whose goods cost Radiant Luxite. It’s surprisingly easy to earn them in this mode, and no order requires them.

Trading Posts

Trading Post Score is determined by the sum of trading post developments (Gold is 600, Platinum is 800, Radiant is 1500). Rabi’a Lvl 3 and Lightgloam Lvl 4 give 1 extra caravan slot.

Battles

Since units can be deployed from anywhere, it’s better to send them off to training or even rest before deploying them.

It’s quite dangerous to use low speed units as caravan guards, as sometimes enemies spawn within range.

When the Extra Condition says it requires goods to be intact, that means they survive, not that they are unharmed. There does appear to be a separate one that requires cargo to be undamaged, though I did not manage to test to see if it’s a translation issue.

Meta Progression

The full route costs 5 keys and gives 5 tears+1/2/3 for your trading post rank. Some achievements are trivial to complete in this route.

You will easily get the 200 wood, 200 iron, 100 dust, and $10000 achievements. Radiant luxites are also very easy to earn.

Otoh, some are much harder. There’s only 1 training slot, so 30 training requires a lot of effort. Battle setups mean it’s quite hard to remain undamaged as well, and boulders are very very rare. There are no factional units to recruit, and no dispatches either.

All Endings

There are 3 Key factors that determine the ending:

  • Wk 35 has a mission “Era of Luxite”. Finish the First Batch, Second Batch and Third Batch orders to complete it.
  • Wk 43 has an order “Bribe Miguel”.

This costs 90k TP funds. and has to be done by Wk 45. Once over, you must choose to give the evidence to Samantha, not publicise it.

  • Wk 47 has an event battle “Tough Negotiation”

Auguste will give a deal to end the battle early. Do not take it.

  • Good Ending: Do all 3.
  • Bad Ending: Do not do 1 and 3. Special scene if you finish 2.
  • Meh Ending: Any other combination.
