The Elder Scrolls: Castles – Ultimate Guide to Resources

Castle: Guide to Resources

By Ink-Eyes.

In Castle, resources play a crucial role; they are essential for maintaining the castle, upgrading equipment, and ensuring the proper functioning of gear for the soldiers. However, there are several types of resources, and not all of them are easily obtainable. In this guide, we will explore each of them, along with their origins, functions, and how to acquire them.

The first resource is wood. This element is the easiest to obtain, and there are a few simple ways to gather wood. The first method is to build a Lumber Mill and assign 4 workers to it. The workers in the Lumber Mill equip themselves with axes and tools ranging from iron to moonstone.

Depending on the level of the Lumber Mill, you can obtain more wood as well as newer, rarer resources. The maximum amount of wood obtainable is at level 6, with a standard Lumber Mill yielding 10 wood, and a premium Lumber Mill yielding 14 wood. Wood can also be obtained during the first 20 missions on the quest board. If you have High Elves in your kingdom, it is possible to receive Wood Elf subjects at your throne to address complaints about deforestation. This interaction is an excellent source of wood.

There are more than 20 different resources available. In the bottom right corner of the screen, there is an icon of a castle. By selecting it, you’ll access a menu. Click on the chest icon to view all your resources. The resources you have earned will appear there. You can consult your resources at any time from this menu.

The next resource (from missions 20 to 60 on the quest board) is Limestone. It’s probably one of the most important resources because it unlocks when your castle reaches middle age, meaning you’ve started to get settled in well where the Emperor placed you. That’s excellent, and congratulations! Limestone is a resource that allows you to upgrade workshop levels, such as the Lumber Mill from level 6 to 11. You can also obtain it through quest missions, and if you have Redguards in your castle, you’ll have a better chance of receiving requests from subjects regarding a reopened mine in the area.

The Clay:

The next resource is Clay (from 60 to 95 on the quest board). Clay is useful for a more advanced castle when you’ve reached level 11 in most workshops. It allows you to upgrade workshops from rank 12 to 16. You can quickly obtain it through subjects at the foot of the throne who will inform you of a passing caravan that wishes to trade with you. There is no specific race tied to this request, so be vigilant! However, be cautious! There may be foreigners who carry plague or curses with them!

The Cutting Stone:

Cut Stone is an advanced resource (from 100 to 125 on the quest board). It is typically obtained from a workshop at levels 16 to 20, although it is produced less frequently than other resources. The best way to acquire Cut Stone is directly from the throne with the help of Redguard subjects, as there are often caravans or mines that can yield it. Indeed, the most effective strategy is to wait on the throne for a subject to present you with a request to provide this valuable resource.

The SandStone:

Sandstone is a rare and highly advanced resource (ranging from 126 to 150 on the quest board). It can be obtained by completing quests. Sometimes you will receive it through your subjects’ requests, but be cautious, as some requests have a sequence and a series of adventures, and Sandstone is often found in one of these.

Let me explain: the first time a subject comes to the throne to talk to you about a mine that has recently been explored, you have the option to take the money or invest it. Often, when you choose to sacrifice part of your earnings in this adventure, another subject will return later to inform you of the project’s progress, which will unlock a different resource, and ultimately a larger spending opportunity, leading you to obtain a significant amount of Sandstone.

You can also acquire Sandstone in large quantities through the Trials of Sheogorath or via the Crate Boxes in the shop.

The Regulus:

Regulus is the final end-game resource in the game. It can be obtained through a factory at levels 26 to 30 and from the quest board between levels 150 and 175. It is more easily acquired once you have reached more than 2 stars on your quests. Of course, Crate Boxes and Uncle Sheogorath can also provide it. However, it is a very rare and difficult resource to obtain.

To unlock its production or acquisition, you will need to defeat a significant number of dragons. The best way to farm this resource is to upgrade your factories to level 26, but be sure to prepare a large amount of Sandstone and gold to reach that level!

The Forge and Blacksmith

Acquiring ingots is not an easy task; however, in this guide, we will explore how to obtain and use them! Ingots are the ideal ingredient for producing quality weapons and armor at the forge. The first ingot obtainable in quests (levels 1-20) is iron. The great thing about ingots in this game is that they require no primary resources to be forged. Therefore, it’s advisable to always maintain a good level in your Furnaces.

  • The Furnace allows for the acquisition and production of quality ingots.
  • The Forge enables the acquisition and production of weapons and armor made from metal and fabric.

You will have access to various types of ingots to forge, depending on the level of your Furnace. Similarly, based on the level of your Forge, you will be able to create different kinds of equipment. Be sure to upgrade both your Furnace and your Forge to maximize your production capabilities!

Steel and Silver:

The second ingot is steel. This ingot can be obtained from the quest board (levels 21-50). Steel is a medium-quality ingot that allows you to forge more powerful steel weapons than their predecessors. Steel weapons are the first to gain a special Elemental Attack, starting with fire, but we will discuss this in another guide.

The next ingot is silver. This ingot is intended for advanced crafting. Most of the best weapons at medium levels are made of silver, whether from Sheogorath’s realm or from the shop, or through various events. Silver forges excellent weapons. Keep in mind that my queen has used her silver daggers for 90 years of rule without any issues.

Silver is an interesting ingot; weapons forged from it sell well, and their elemental ice attack is highly appreciated during quests. You will have a good way to obtain silver ingots with a furnace of level 11 or higher. You may encounter caravans that will offer to buy silver ingots in exchange for food, as well as Redguard miners who will purchase oil from you for these ingots.

The Orichalcum:

The Orc metal, also known as Orichalcum, is an advanced metal (levels 75-125). It is a highly valued metal among Tanks and characters with low defense and armor, such as Sorcerers or characters wielding a hatchet. Indeed, one of the main characteristics of Orichalcum is its significant increase in power. When equipped with Orichalcum weapons, your character will gain a significant amount of health points and damage (Stamina). Once again, the best way to obtain it would be through the throne or with a manufacturing facility of level 16-20.

The Dwemer Metal:

The Dwemer metal is an advanced metal (levels 100-150 in the quest table), and it is the arms that you will use the most. Given that the next metal requires defeating the last dragon in the game, you will have a long time with the Dwemer metal. It can be looted in the Emperor’s Pass beyond level 150. It is possible to obtain it through Sheogorath’s Trial Wave 60. You can also obtain it through the throne and with furnaces of levels 21-25.

The Moonstone Metal:

The Moonstone ingots are the end-game content of the game. They are very late in the game, and even obtaining the ingots themselves is only possible after defeating the final dragon on the quest table. It requires a forge of levels 26-30. Moonstone weapons have a fire, ice, and special element, and are the most powerful possible weapons. Even at their first level, they deal devastating damage, similar to Orichalcum. The Moonstone ingots give a huge bonus to health points and stamina. For the moment, these weapons are so powerful that the game is not able to offer a real challenge if you have them in your inventory. In fact, the final dragon is programmed to be beatable with Dwemer weapons, so you will only have a real challenge when trying to beat the trials of Sheogorath, passing wave 100.

Workbench and Loom

The Juth:

The jute cloth, like ingots, does not consume any resources to be created and produced. Jute is the primary resource. It is mainly used to make robes for your sorcerer, clothing for your subjects, and work attire such as a vest for your furnace workers. Jute can be obtained using looms of level 1 to 5 and in the first 20 levels of the quest table. It is essential for starting well in Elder Scrolls Castle.

The Wools:

Wool is a low-level fabric, but it allows you to acquire real production levels in your respective workbench. From this fabric, armor and work attire will start to receive bonuses in resources and production levels. You can obtain it in the quest table between levels 25 and 75, approximately. Wool is very common and you’ll get it in large quantities through various means, especially on the throne and in workbenches of level 6-11.”

The Linen:

Linen is a medium-level fabric, obtainable between levels 75 and 125 in the quest table. It allows you to create powerful production attire. Rather rare, it’s not easy to obtain outside of workbenches, except for the throne. The best way to get it is still by increasing the level of your loom and obtaining more of this workshop to create more. However, between linen and cotton, you’ll progress so quickly to cotton that you won’t use linen as much, so don’t worry about it!

The Cotton:

Cotton is a real nice fabric, highly appreciated by players because it’s at an advanced level (from level 16-20) and can be obtained in large quantities through various game activities, such as Sheogorath trials, shops, production, the throne, and quests. It’s the most popular and common fabric. Its reproduction is rapid.

The Velours:

Velour is a rare fabric. It’s produced in workbenches at level 21-25. It’s a fabric for highly advanced players. It’s used to create red robes and other clothing of the same color. It’s a very powerful fabric. It’s unlocked in the quest table at levels 125-150. The shop and green crate boxes are the best ways to obtain it. You can also get it by completing the same mission between 145-150, with a 5x chance per attempt. It’s not necessary to repeat the 3-star mission every time to obtain this coveted fabric among players.

The Ash Thread:

The Ash thread is a very rare fabric. It’s almost impossible to obtain quickly outside of workbenches at level 26-30. It’s the end-game fabric of the game. It’s obtained “easily” in green crates that events sometimes give us. The best way to obtain it is via the boxes offered in the Emperor’s Pass and on workbenches. (165-175 at the Quest board).

The Rares Resources

In Elder Scrolls Castle, there are resources that I would even call legendary. They are very rare and difficult to obtain, but very essential for high-level weapons and workbenches. From the Dwemer arms or pieces of the castle beyond level 20, you’ll notice that you’ll need Corindon, Quartz, Silk, and Marble.

Let’s look at how to obtain each of these resources respectively.

The Corindon:

Corindon is a metal that the greatest warriors in the game will surely desire. It is used for the crafting of Orichalum and Dwemer weapons, as well as Moonstone. It is highly prized for end-game purposes. Its collection is impossible, but its acquisition can be made through the following methods:

  • Through quests (150+).
  • Through combat-related events (Very rare).
  • At the thrones with adventures (Very, very rare).
  • In green crates (Rare).
  • In premium and event boxes (More common but still relatively rare).
  • In premium passes (Common).
  • In Sheogorath trials.

The Quartz:

Quartz is one of the rarest resources, but it’s also one of the easiest to farm. It can be found often in quest missions, event missions, Shéogorath trials, and crate boxes in the boutique. It is very useful for designing and constructing several identical workbenches in the castle, for example, a second kitchen or a second furnace will require a good number of Quartz.

The Silks:

It seems like you’re providing information on the Silk item, which is a valuable resource for Mages.

Silk is an excellent item that has the same function as Conrrindon, but for Mages. Silk is a rare fabric that can be obtained in the same way as Corrindon, namely:

  • Through quests (150+)
  • Through combat-related events (Very rare)
  • At the thrones with adventures (Very, very rare)
  • In green crates (Rare)
  • In premium and event boxes (More common but still relatively rare)
  • In premium passes (Common)
  • In Sheogorath trials

However, it is easier to obtain than Conrindon, as you can get x20 of it for free every time you level up in the pass after level 250.*

The Marble:

The Marble is a construction material that serves to increase the level of buildings, rooms, and workbenches above level 21. It is very useful, but also very rare. You sometimes have the chance to receive it as a throne reward, but the best way to get it is through the shop (for free) or through the Emperor’s Pass. Occasionally, quests and Shéogorath trials will also reward you with Marble.”

It sounds like Marble is a valuable resource for upgrading and improving various structures in the game, and that it can be obtained through various means, including the shop, the Emperor’s Pass, and rare rewards from quests and trials.

The Blessing:

The blessing for getting a maximum of resources is the production blessing, which reduces the production time of all workbenches by 50%. It can be obtained everywhere, whether it’s in the shop, during quests, during events, or at the throne! You can even get it when you’re too old or during enemy waves in trials.
