The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria – How to Locate an Area That Looks “Off Map”

This short tip will help you to locate an area that looks “off map”.

Locating an Area That Looks “Off Map”

By Axbeard

Are you trying to get to an area marked by an Icon on the map but it appears you have uncovered all portions of the map?

I feel like this is more common in Sandbox, but it definitely DOES happen in campaign (I’m looking at you Mines of Moria Orctown!).

  • FD (Fathom Depth). Your current FD is noted in the upper left of the game screen, near the Mini Map. Ex; 222 fathoms deep.
  • When you have the map open, click on the icon you are trying to get to and take note of its FD.
  • Then compare that to your current FD. This will tell you if you need to travel up or down.

Next you need to know that each Level/Deep can have multiple floors within it… and when traveling a Stair or Descent area, you can find entrance to different floors between Levels/Deeps. You can also change FD within a level just by going uphill/downhill or climbing up/down buildings, cliffs, staircases, etc.
