Tiny Glade – Automatic Timelapse Guide

Automatic Timelapse Tutorial

By Frog Jones.

People have made multiple timelapse tutorials, most of them involve holding down Z to undo everything and replay it back, or demolishing your build in a specific order and undoing everything.

Here is a method that does it all for you, at 10x the speed and lets you fly around to watch it without pressing any buttons (it has some limitations, I put them at the end).

  • Make a new save.
  • Go back to your build.
  • Open the camera mode, then open the screenshots folder. Go one folder back, then open the saves folder.
  • Find the save folder for your main build and copy the history.json file to your clipboard.
    • If you have multiple saves, the easiest way to do this is to open the screenshot.jpg file and see if it shows the right save.
  • Find the save folder for your new world and delete the snapshots folder, and the history.json file.
  • Right click and paste the history.json file from your previous main save folder.
  • Go back ingame and load your new save, it should have worked and the timelapse will start.

Notes and Limitations:

  • When you load the world the timelapse starts immediately.
  • If you press escape while the timelapse is happening, it will stop and will not resume afterwards. If you want it back, you need to redo the last three steps.
  • During the timelapse you cannot interact with any UI buttons, UI keybinds also do not work (this means you can’t enter camera mode or hide the HUD).
  • The new experimental camera control menu does work during the timelapse, but it is still buggy and doesn’t work very well as a feature itself yet. When it is fixed, you could theoretically start the timelapse, open the camera control menu, load pre-saved camera positions from a file and let that control fluid camera movements for you during the timelapse.

Hopefully one day the devs implement an official feature to undo all or replay your build from the start, allowing you to use photo mode / no hud to record better.
