More Clutter & Vines Window Sandwich Guide
By Smashelyn.
I’ve been trying to experiment with two things: getting a more dilapidated/lived-in/rustic look and adding more detail to buildings. When you clip a slightly smaller building inside of the building that serves as your facade, windows will snap to the innermost building. You can spawn a lot of clutter and achieve some interesting wall ornamentation effects, and I noticed that the vines like to spawn on the windows as well.
Examples
I built this as an example to show a few different potential uses based on the depth of the wall. At a moderate depth, using the rectangular latticed windows, you can create a thin horizontal timber effect, and most of the clutter on this side is spawned only from these windows. I covered pretty much the entire wall – 2 rows of 6 windows. You can line only the bottom or the top if you don’t want as much clutter.
I left one side pretty shallow to show the dilapidated/boarded-up window effect you can get from this as well, if you’re into that kind of thing.
Here’s an example with stone – I wanted clutter, but the entrance of my building was too high off the ground, leaving a huge empty space and a big ugly stone slab. So I layered multiple towers at different heights and depths to create wall ornamentation as well as clutter. It has a neat effect of lightening the stone directly over the window.
Here’s an example of three custom windows (top row) made by placing the cathedral window into three towers at different heights and clipping depths:
Hopefully, this helps anyone else who’s been wanting to spawn more clutter or add more details to builds! It’s a pretty simple trick, and I’m sure I’m not the first person to think of it – I kind of came across it by accident.
Bonus: How to Hide the Windows
You can also completely hide the windows, like in this example – just make sure to click the windows to ensure they’re in the style you want (e.g., no towels or hanging planters if you don’t want them) because you won’t be able to click them once they’re buried. You also don’t have much control over what spawns, because the decor will change as you shift the wall back.
