Guide to March Setup Featuring Meta Heroes & Formations
Since the beginning of TW and up to this point, the most common question that almost all players asking is which heroes are the best for each of the unit types.
Which Order Are The Meta Heroes to Be Chosen for The March?
The answer for this question is not as straightforward as we might think. The fact that each army type has its own abilities and specialties makes the answer subject to change with every hero released. However, we can still formulate a general idea for each army unit type based on their abilities and characteristics even with every release.
Army
Army is the most straightforward of the three types, in general Army doesn’t have the harmony between the three heroes when compared to Navy and Air Force. We have discussed about harmony in a different guide so that part will be omitted from this guide.
To make long story short, Army is usually consisting of a powerful trigger and enhancing hero, trigger indestructible hero and a trigger support with HP enhancement hero.
For the order to be correct we usually start with the strongest of triggers followed by the indestructible trigger hero and ending up with the support hero. With that being said, for the current meta heroes of Army, their order will be:
- Gipsy – Powerful Trigger
- Duke / Eureka – Trigger Indestructible
- Snake Eyes – Support Hero
Another point for Snake eyes order being last is that he doesn’t trigger at regular circumstances but rather at enemy’s turn.
Navy
Navy march is the most complex of the three as it has several different specialties that establishes harmony between the heroes. The current meta march is fairly consistent and will most likely to continue for a while longer. The specialty of the current Navy meta march is dependent on the debilitation effect mostly with consideration to others, like heavy armor. Without digging into much details the order of the Navy meta march is dependent on the tax collector and tax issuer we mentioned in an earlier guide. The tax issuer will be ordered first followed by the tax collector and ending up with the ATK enhancer.
Thus, the current meta hero march will be ordered as follows:
- Layla / Duke – Tax Issuer
- Crimson / Maplelyn – Tax Collector
- Stromoy – ATK Enhancer
Air Force
Air Force march has stability within it and the consistency of its special ability is what makes it easy to figure out the harmony of the march. The ignition effect had been since long ago the main specialty of Air Force, establishing the tax issuer-collector harmony only possible with Asuka in the march, but even without the collector it would work well. The current order of the AF meta march is more dependent on the damage of the heroes rather than the harmony established. The order is as follows:
- Eureka – Possible Tax Issuer (with Titan Gears) and Damage Source
- Asuka – Tax Collector
- Brady – ATK Enhancer
The idea behind Eureka being ordered first lies with the fact that Eureka may become a tax issuer of ignition if a Titan gear with special ability is equipped to him.
Which HT Setup is Best for the Current Meta Heroes?
The answer to this question will be provided without going too much into details.
Army
For the Gipsy / Duke / Snake Eyes meta march, the decision of which HT to be used lies mainly on:
- If the march to be used for base defense.
- The fact that Snake eyes trigger depends upon the survivability of first two rows.
Thus, either Earthshaker or Doom Sawblade are best to be used for the march. The best chip sets to be used for it are:
- Xyston
- Shamshir
- Rondel
- Hoplon
Navy
For the Layla / Crimson / Stromoy meta march the most suited HT are Tide Crusher or Doom Sawblade. The best chips sets are:
- Sasanian Chain
- Xyston
- Shamshir
- Estoc
Air Force
For the Asuka/Eureka/Brady meta march it would be either Earthshaker or Gale. If Maximo is used instead of Asuka then Earthshaker is most recommended.
The best chips sets are:
- Xyston
- Shamshir
- Scramsax
- Hoplon
Which Formation to Be Used for Each Army Type?
As we can see there are two formations currently available, Scorpion and Shark. Each formation boosts 1st-3rd, 5th and 8th stacks. The differences between both can be summarized into one formation being defensive and the other being offensive. There are additional abilities that each formation provides like the counterblow and blaze reinforcement.
Shark
Shark is an offensive formation due to the ATK enhancement and DMG increase stats it provides. The ATK can reach up to 350% and the DMG increase can reach up to 60% for the designated slots. On the other hand, it provides HP enhancement as well as DMG decrease with up to 100% and 40% respectively. For that reason Shark is a formation where is used mainly for attacking. In addition to the attacking statistics, Shark provides special abilities, Blaze reinforcement and weakness strike. Blaze reinforcement is the ability where either of the five designated stacks can be reinforced by additional units when the stack is cleared. Weakness strike is an ability where it boosts the damage increase adding more to the damage increase boost Shark provides.
Shark is generally used for the main march units mainly for the blaze reinforcement units. However, this general use is also affected by the reason that it was released before Scorpion which made players develop its level more. When it comes to deciding which army type benefit most of Shark, either Army or Navy can be good candidates. The reason behind it being useful for Army is that the blaze reinforcement will provide more units to the march which will play an important role for Snake Eyes hostile effect. The Navy march is generally good in its survivability because of its strong defense. For that reason, using Shark will add more power to the march establishing good balance between defense and offense.
Scorpion
Scorpion is considered as the quite opposite of Shark formation. Its defensive abilities are marvelous and that is for the reason they provide the designated stacks up to 350% and 60% of unit HP and DMG decrease respectively. It also provides unit ATK boost and DMG increase that can reach up to 100% and 40% respectively. In addition to the major defensive statistics boosts, Scorpion offers two unique abilities, counterblow and unyielding fortress. The unyielding fortress ability offers additional boost in the damage decrease of the designated stacks. Counterblow is a unique ability that allows the designated slots to launch counterattacks when being targeted by enemy units. The beauty of the counterblow is that it doesn’t trigger heroes abilities of counterattacks like the hostile effect of both Polik and Snake Eyes.
Scorpion is a formation that is to be used strategically especially against Shark formation. The counterblow that is anti hostile effect makes Scorpion suitable for Army and Air Force marches when facing army forces. In addition, both Army and Air Force are strong in terms of offensive power, so using scorpion to them will increase the units survivability rate which is a great boost for both types.
Eagle
Eagle is a unique defensive formation with very high potential. It offers same general statistics of unit HP, Damage decrease, Unit ATK and Damage Increase to those of Scorpion and Shark formations. The percentage of defensive statistics provided by Eagle is however almost identical to those of Scorpion’s, as Eagle offers up to 370% Unit HP and up to 67% DMG decrease. The attacking statistics are also almost identical as they can reach up to 110% Unit ATK and 45% DMG increase.
The overall focus on the defensive statistics of Eagle is what gives it the name as a defensive formation. However, there are two special abilities of Eagle which provide extra depth into being a defensive weapon making this formation uniquely defensive, they are Eagle Detection and Feathers of the Eagle. First of all, Feathers of the Eagle is unlocked at tier level 5 and it provides 25% – 60% DMG decrease extra to the designated stacks lasting for the entire battle unlike the Unyielding Fortress ability of Scorpion’s which gives 10% – 40% DMG for first three rounds only. The percentage range of Feathers of the Eagle depends on the tier level and it doubles when the formation is used for base defense rather than attack. On the other hand, the Eagle Detection ability unlocked at tier level 3 is what makes Eagle extremely unique, as it’s the first time ever such an ability is released into the game. The Eagle Detection ability allows the designated stacks to mitigate the suppression effect of units by 30% and extra 10% when defending the base. This means that when your units are under attack by the anti type of your force, Eagle will help the designated 5 stacks and reduce the suppression effect for them. This is the main reason for this formation to be used for general defense and mostly base defense for all your army types. In short, Eagle is worth the investment and is considered to be the most universal formation which makes it suitable for all three types of forces.
