TRIBE NINE – Tsuruko Semba Guide

Tsuruko Semba Quick Guide

Ву Lucky7K.

Overview

For Tsuruko, the whole gimmick is to build Twilight’s Embrace to 100 stacks, which will make a huge circle on the map (Unending Twilight). Once the circle is made, you want to stand in the circle and do damage from primary/secondary attacks/counterattack to build up your meter until your left bar is at 3/4 (75 Twilight’s Embrace), then use strategy skill, which will do a huge AOE attack. If that attack hits someone in the circle, then it gets enhanced to deal more damage. (You can activate your strategy skill at 55 Twilight’s Embrace, but it’s better to have a little more.)

Additionally, each hit you deal while in the circle heals your team (if you don’t have Passive 2 unlocked). If you run out of Twilight’s Embrace, the circle will disappear. You’ll have to recharge Twilight’s Embrace in order for the circle to reappear.

Primary Attack:

Series of 3 attacks, and each hit per attack grants Twilight’s Embrace. Do note that the 3rd stage of her primary attack can be animation canceled. Wait until the dark orbs are right above her, then Dash to animation cancel.

Secondary Attack:

After a charge up, releases a huge aoe orb. Grants Twilight’s Embrace. If the circle is up and if an enemy is hit by the aoe orb, it’ll reposition the circle to under the enemy. You are actually able to move during this attack. Hold Dash, then hit secondary attack. The momentum of the Dash will move you during the secondary attack.

Counterattack:

When an enemy is doing a powerful attack, a red circle (or a red glare) will occur. Use your counterattack button to counterattack. Counterattacks make enemies do abilities that allow them to enter the break status more easily. Counterattacking will increase Twilight’s Embrace.

Strategy Skill:

Can be activated at 55 or above Twilight’s Embrace. It’ll do an aoe attack on the target. If the target is in the big circle (Unending Twilight), it’ll do an enhanced attack, dealing more damage. Consume some amount of Twilight’s Embrace.

Ultimate Skill:

Can be used when you have 3 Tension Bars. It’ll do a big aoe attack and grant all allies Turning Tides, which will recover 50% of the ally’s max hp if they fall before 50% of their hp. Not a good ult imo, would rather use a dps ult or ult with 2 Tension Bars.

Chain Skill:

Can be activated when the enemy is in break. Does aoe damage.

Combos:

To start, you want to build up Twilight’s Embrace to 100 to get the circle (Unending Twilight). Then, you want to use your strategy skill to do big aoe damage. After that, the challenge is building up your meter again to around ¾ (75 Twilight’s Embrace) to use your strategy skill again. Chain skill after using other chain skills that provide buffs.

Start Up:

  • Path 1: Primary 1 > 2 > 3 > Dash > Primary 1 > 2 > 3 > Dash (Repeat until circle is made)

Recommended with a target is not going to attack you.

  • Path 2: Primary Attacks > Counterattack > Hold Dash > Secondary > Primary Attacks until circle is made

Recommended when target is focusing you AND is going to do a strong attack that can be counterattacked. Has a lot quicker start up time.

Keeping Up the Circle:

Once Circle (Unending Twilight) is made, immediately use Strategy skill. Then you have to balance your meter.

  • If meter is above 50%: Primary 1 > 2 > 3 > Dash > Primary Attack (if not at ¾ meter) > Strategy Skill.
  • If meter is below 50%: Primary 1 > 2 > 3 > Hold Dash > Secondary > Primary 1 > 2 > 3 > Dash > Strategy Skill
  • If enemy is not in circle, Hold Dash > Secondary Attack to hit the enemy to make a circle under enemy.

Gameplay Tips

  1. Please hold Dash > Secondary Attack: Makes it a lot easier to avoid attacks
  2. Use Counterattack as much as possible: Alleviate some of the combo, allowing more damage to happen
  3. Do not use her ultimate: Ult is Bad, Yo’s ultimate basically does 4x the damage. If you made it to Tension 3 (EX), you don’t need Turning Tides
  4. Use Tsuruko as healer (Unless you have Dupe 1): Tsuruko is better played as a SubDPS/Healer, especially if you don’t have another tank/healer on the team. If you have her at Dupe 1, then build her as main DPS (DOT goes crazy ngl)

Build

Support / Healer Build:

Patimons (Equipment) – Healer: Increases Grant Recovery Effect by 30%

  • No need to focus on enhancing skills, but enhancements for Strategy skill is good for more damage
  • Substats: Grant Recovery Effect > Support >>> Crit Chance/Damage > Atk

Main DPS Build:

Patimons (Equipment) – Trickster: Increases Support Point by 30.

  • Substats: Support >>> Crit Chance/Damage > Atk
  • No need to focus on enhancing skills, but enhancements for Strategy skill is good for more damage

Disclaimer: Most of Tsuruko’s damage comes from her additional attacks (DOT), which are based off of the support stat. Because of this, her attack may seem very low (because it is), but her damage comes from the support stat. It is important to gain Support as a substat!

Potential (Unlocks after Chapter 1)

Support / Healer Build:

Focus on enhancing Passive 1 to get more healing.

Main DPS Build:

Focus on Enhancive Passive 2 to get more damage. Remember that this removes her healing part of her kit.

Dupes

Dupe 1 is the best bang for your buck, unlocks an additional damage when units are in circle (Twilight’s Embrace). Only get this if you want to build her as a main dps.

Dupe 5 is an increase in damage, but not worth unless whale, then do whatever you want.

Team Comps

Support / Healer Build:

DPS / DPS or Breaker / Tsuruko:

General team with Tsuruko being your source of healing. Highly Recommended that one of your dps be a unit with high break.

Main DPS Build (Please have Dupe 1):

Tsuruko / Tank or Healer / Healer or Support or Breaker:

Really great team if Tsuruko is Dupe 1. Recommended to manual play her. Recommended that you have at least 1 unit with high break. Remember that if you are playing her as Main DPS, you lose the healer factor of the kit (but still build into support), so please have a tank/healer in the team.

Operating Character

Support / Healer Build:

You can let AI do its thing.

Main DPS Build (Please have Dupe 1):

I recommend manualing her, as counterattacks and hold Dash > Secondary makes her have higher uptime to her Twilight Embrace, allowing her to deal a lot more damage. When she stands still when doing a secondary attack with AI, your blood pressure will go up, so please manual her.

Conclusion

Tsuruko is a very good and versatile unit. Being able to deal damage and/or heal is amazing, opening up a lot of different team comps. Do recommend pulling for her.
