Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How can I play with my Steam friends in a private game?
- If you’re already in the Hub, or on a quest, and you’re not sure if the game is private, you can return to the main menu by hitting Esc > Main Menu.
- Make sure the option Private Game on top of the Play button is marked.
- Click on Play – this will start a private game (this means nobody can join unless you invite them), and take you to the Hub.
- Press I – this is the default keybinding for inviting Steam friends. A pop-up will open with a list of friends you can invite.
If you accidently open the air lock how do you re-stabilise the ship?
Once you close the airlock again, the life support should work, though it may be slow. You can speed it up by calibrating it repeatedly.
On the destroyer, once the the ship was vented and the airlock was closed again, it took several seconds to get 1% oxygen back without calibrating, but calibrating got 10% oxygen back pretty quickly. By the time oxygen was back at 100%, temperature was still at -100 degrees, so it definitely would take a long time to be survivable without calibrating life support.
So essentially, here’s your guide:
- Get a jetpack on to survive the lack of oxygen and the freezing cold.
- Ensure the ship is sealed. Close any airlocks.
- Open all interior doors.
- Turn on Life Support.
- Calibrate Life Support repeatedly until the interior is a safe temperature and has oxygen.
What is the best strategy for defeating interdiction if you fail to avoid it?
Depending on weapons and priority: If kinetic shield nodes are priority #1, ignore them for energy weapons. If you want to kill it and escape immediately, target invulnerability nodes first, then the tower, then leave. If you want to loot the place (there’s always wreckage), target turrets before invulnerability nodes.
Be careful of mines – they spawn in a circle just wide enough to be outside your range but close enough to move toward you from the tower, essentially sandwiching you between the tower and a ring of mines around the area. Keep your eyes and ears alert for their movement.
Is it possible to have two last tier perks active at the same time?
Nope, not enough perk points.
What do the power cells actually do?
They are used to power up multiple auxiliaries, like shields, and certain guns. Powered shields recharge much faster at the cost of battery charge, powered guns consume 1 energy per shot to gain +2 levels in damage and fire rate.
Is KPD a waste of resources?
Unboosted KPD 1 is terrible. Don’t expect it to save you from anything – it’s got short range and long target acquisition. MK 3 boosted is an absolute unit. They work in a 180° arc, acquire a target, then destroy it. The shots you see from it are just window dressing from my understanding.
A boosted MK 3 KPD on both sides of your ship means Frost Mommy can throw all the ice shards she wants at you – it ain’t happening. There are some weird bugs where they sometimes don’t shoot things they should, but don’t write them off completely. They can be great.
Always boost them – it lasts forever and has a very quick cooldown. I believe with an Engi it’s something like 720 seconds boosted and approximately a 15-second cooldown. They absolutely guzzle ammo though, so save your crates if you want to run them.
How to dodge bombs?
Try flying directly at the bomber and you should miss first pass of all bombs, then begin your corkscrew spiral with thruster boosts engaged and you should be able to avoid all of them.
What attacks you can dodge?
Thrust boosters are friendly. It works even better if you have a visor that says “Hold on, evasive action!” In all seriousness, pretty much everything is dodgeable with the possible exception of the fighters’ close-in guns (little red blasts), but they don’t fire those unless they are at super close range. They mostly use their rockets (purple, usually launched as a volley), but if they are firing those, you are probably way too close or have much bigger threats.
How do you repair your ship to 100%?
You can repair up to 50% of damage you received, so it’s better to repair often.
You can only win lootboxes when leveling up? Will this stop the lootboxes after level 30?
Each objective completed grants a certain amount of XP which scales up until it hits 4000 xp per level which after you hit 30 and have 31 total “genepoint” (read talent points) you will prestige and get a golden level after which you only get the lootboxes on level up no additional gene points you also get a lootbox for every boss kill which happens ever 5 to 8 stages and completes a sector during a run.
How to make more AI turrets?
You can’t make brains without mods but you can find them as loot just like alloy and biomass.
Does each layer of shield absorb 1 shot? Or is it something else?
They have a health value, something like 100 hp per layer. If you watch the UI, you’ll notice the shields have a dynamic color based on their current charge/hp.
Idk the exact value per layer. Anyways, the absorption rate is what percent of damage taken is eaten by the shields. Taking 60 damage at 50% absorption will result in 30 damage to shields, 30 damage to hull.
Does moving forward vs backward have any effect on acceleration?
Forwards is Faster overall and maybe a little faster accelerating. The Fastest is to drift and fly up or down at the same time but Adding up and down does not give a huge difference when your already moving side and forwards.
How to get more XP?
Play short pilgrimages on insane as soon as you unlock it. The amount of exp you get is gigantic, dwarfs anything you can get in endless in the comparable amount of time. If you have a high level friend then ask them to do couple short missions on insane so you can accelerate your progress.
7K EXP from one pilgrimage, its crazy.
Avoid special characters in names!
Players with special characters in their names (specially ‘{‘ and ‘}’) are experimenting different in-game issues, including:
- Unable to leave the sarcograph, making the tutorial impossible to complete.
- Other interactions of different kinds.
