Xiuzhen Idle – Useful Tips and Tricks

Beginners Tips

Cultivation

Let’s talk about Cultivation in this game. It’s a super important tab for making progress. You choose the active skill and each time you finish it, you get more Health, Attack, and Defense.

One thing to keep in mind is that the first skill, “Breathing Qi,” works better than “Sensing Qi,” which works better than the next one, and so on. But once you unlock “Comprehending Heaven & Earth,” everything after that becomes even more effective. So, focus on “Breathing Qi” until you get “Heaven & Earth,” then just use the highest skill you have.

Manuals are books you can buy in the store and learn from. Be careful though, because sometimes a new book that only goes up to level 30 might be weaker than an older book you got to level 100. It’s not always best to just use the newest books.

Always upgrade things in the Abode tab, as they stick around. The Cultivation room is very important, the Spirit field helps with farming for stat fruits and money early on, and the Spirit Formation gives a lot of stats for Breakthroughs and Tribulations later. If you’re unsure what to focus on, the Cultivation room is usually a safe choice.

Put good souls in the tables you get from upgrading the Spirit Formation in the Abode. These upgrades are very important for Tribulations and Breakthroughs because the bonuses are based on percentages.

Lifestones give stats, and when choosing between similar ones, look for upgrades related to Cultivation.

Travel

In the Travel tab, you kill things and upgrade them after killing enough. If clicking “evolve” doesn’t work, it means you need more Attack. Get more Attack and you’ll be able to click it eventually. This is how you get souls for the tables.

The shop is mostly for buying Manuals for the Manual Cultivation tab. Every three Breakthroughs, a new floor with better items appears. Buy the Manuals, and if you have extra money, buy the Medicine. It helps more than it seems like it should. The stat bonus probably gets applied early and scales with other things.

Quests are neat at the start but quickly become irrelevant as the rewards don’t really get better.

Taming lets you catch and train animals to use as stat sticks. They matter early on but don’t scale well in the mid-game. They might become useful again later.

Do the Challenge tab occasionally for some extra stats to help with advancement. Check it from time to time and clear the easy ones.

Farm the Mystic tab for Breakthroughs and Lifestones. Every ten levels, there’s a boss, and if you beat it, you can start again from that point. This can help you get good Breakthrough item drops faster when you rebirth.

The Beast Tide tab is how you unlock more treasures with higher limits. You use the Beast Training Array in the Sect to turn tamed animals into sacred beasts, kill things to get beast orbs, and use the orbs to level up your sacred beasts.

The Chaos System isn’t available yet, so I don’t know much about it.

Skills

The skill tabs are pretty straightforward. Talismans (the last tab) are from the DLC and are really good if you want to spend a little money.

Planting is a good way to make money early on, and the Qi fruit helps a lot with progress.

Alchemy and Forging don’t seem to give very useful rewards in the mid-game, but higher skill levels improve the Arrays in the Sect, which then improve the crafted items. They’ll probably become relevant again later on.

Sect

It might seem complicated, but it’s not as bad as it looks. I’ll help you understand the different parts so you can play the game without getting overwhelmed.

Grand Hall

This shows your Sect’s status. Early on, the Resources at the bottom are important before things start scaling up. Disciples here are just nameless workers and fighters for your Sect. Sect Aura is the same as your Formation Aura, which comes from your Core Array.

  • Recruiting: Turn this on and never turn it off or think about it again.
  • Competition: This is how you get named Disciples, the ones who do big jobs and gather resources. Set it to Auto unless you’re low on money, and only take purple or red ones. I’ll explain more about this later.
  • Guardian: Turn a beast egg into a stat stick. It also levels them up using the Sect.
  • Donation: You can save and take out money here. Early on, it’s a great way to keep your money when you rebirth. Later, your Sect will make way more money than you can, so you can just take from them when needed.
  • Management: This is how you control your Sect most of the time.
  • Storage: Look at your Sect’s stuff. You’ll know when you need to check this.

Management

This is where you manage your Sect, even though it’s not a separate tab. There’s a lot of info here, but just ignore the table. Put someone in each job, choosing the top person as they’ll have the best stats. They might do a bad job at first, but that’s okay.

There are three important buttons:

  • Construction: This sets what building will be built next after the current one is done. You’ll need to change this often.
  • Priorities: This is what missions the named Disciples will be sent on. Realm is for Tribulations and Breakthroughs. Getting them to higher tiers is a big step for your Sect, as it increases their resource collection and building buffs. Their max skill level is also based on their tier. Learning will make them improve their skills, which helps with resource collection and building bonuses. Resources will send them to gather resources they’re good at getting. Use this if you’re short on resources for Realm and have been doing a lot of Learning lately.
  • Start/Stop: This starts and stops everything. Just hit Start.

The log on the right shows what’s happening. If you’re on Realm and see a lot of messages about not having enough resources to break through, you need more resources and should probably switch to that.

Outer Gate

These are your buildings that give passive resources. They’re managed by a named Disciple and staffed by normal Disciples.

Construction Office: Buffs building speed and the number of normal Disciples in your Sect. Level this up a bit at the start.

  • Garden: Makes Herbs
  • Mine: Makes Minerals
  • Hunting Hall: Makes Beast Cores
  • Beast Hall: Turns Beast Cores into Exp for the Sect Beast stat stick
  • Foreign Affairs Hall: Makes Spirit Stones (this will eventually be 100% of your Spirit Stone generation)
  • Alchemy Hall: Turns Herbs into Pills
  • Weapon Hall: Turns Minerals into Weapons

Pills and Weapons are needed for both named and outer Disciples to break through and progress realms.

Use the Management tab to switch the focus of your buildings.

Inner Gate

This is for your combat army. Ignore it for now. Once you have thousands of upgraded outer Disciples and a lot of inner Disciples in the Immortal Realms, you can start using this. Just put high Qi inner Disciples into spots, then put outer Disciples into the army and use them to fight. It’s simple once you can do it, but that won’t be for a long time.

Transition

This is how you upgrade your outer Disciples. It’s not important and is a waste of resources until you’re much further along and have started doing combat. Once the cost isn’t a big deal, start doing it. By the time you realize what they’re for, you’ll be glad you upgraded some already. Don’t stress too much though, as you’ll eventually be able to do a lot more at once with a higher success rate.

Disciples

This is an overview of the cultivators you’ll use as middle managers for your workshops and generals in your army, as well as send to get resources in the Conquest screen.

There’s not much useful for new players here. Later on, when you want to carefully manage your Sect, you could use this screen to filter out the weakest members, but it’s not necessary in the early or mid game.

Conquest

Ignore this early on. Once you have more named Disciples, there are a few areas (like a tree place, lava place, icy place, etc.) that give resources for the next screen, “Array,” which is a huge source of upgrades. You’ll put Disciples in these areas to farm colored gems. They also get fruits and scrolls for upgrading Disciple stats, but if you’re doing that, you probably don’t need a guide.

Farming these areas is a full-time job. If you leave the same Disciples in these areas, they’ll fall behind the rest of your named Disciples, so switch them out occasionally for upgrades. You may need to pause the Management tab to assign people to these locations, as “free” Disciples will be given jobs almost immediately by the active Management tab.

Array

This is where the good stuff is!

Core

Nothing can be higher level than this, and inspecting it gives you a summary of the bonuses from all the other buildings. Every 10 levels, you transition an additional person per tick. The Formation Aura is the sum of all the different formations, and this creates your Sect Aura, which is a huge multiplier for the production of everything in your Sect. Increasing this will make a very noticeable difference.

Note that Sacred Talisman and Sacred Beast Formation are much easier to level in the mid and early game. You can expect those two to contribute about 99% of your Formation Aura for a long time, as Sacred Weapon and Sacred Alchemy will be stuck with low numbers for a while. Beast and Talisman, for whatever reason, don’t need much more than the resources from Conquest.

General Notes

When you rebirth, Qi Sense is the most important stat. I usually put about 70% of my points into that, 20% into Talent, and spread the last 10% among the rest. Qi Sense gives you HP and Cultivation Speed, which in turn gives you HP, Attack, and Defense. Talent is good too, especially for Manuals that give you a lot of stats and Cultivation Speed, but the skill experience isn’t very useful early on.

Attunement and Root give Attack and Defense respectively, but the amount is mostly overshadowed by what you get from Qi Sense and Cultivation for the most part. Chance just gives you more resources, and gathering resources when you need them has always been easy for me so far.

By the way, Qi is pronounced “Chi,” so don’t be lame and say it correctly!

If you have any tips of your own, feel free to share them. Honestly, 99% of the fun in this game is discovery. If we all wanted to just follow instructions, we’d probably play something more mainstream. But if you stumble across something that surprises you and you think other people might want to know about it, go ahead and share it!
